Complexity recover from 2-12 deficit to sweep Astralis at BLAST Fall Final

The IEM Sydney finalists won 14 rounds in a row on Overpass to clinch victory.

JT stepped up massively on Overpass to help power COL to victory

Complexity have secured victory in their opening match of BLAST Premier Fall Final after sweeping Astralis 2-0, stealing the Danish team's pick of Ancient (13-9) before completing an immense comeback on Overpass, recovering from a 2-12 deficit by winning 14 rounds in a row to take the win in overtime.

Reports of impending roster changes have swirled around the Danish team for over a month, but faith in a better showing from them was high after they mustered a run to the semi-finals of CS2 Asia Championships in Shanghai two weeks ago.

Sources: Astralis close in on stavn & jabbi deal

Add to that the fact they're motivated by playing on home turf in Denmark, and you had the stage set for what should have been a good match between them and the first CS2 LAN event's grand finalists, Complexity.

Instead, you had the Danes concede defeat on their own pick of Ancient, and then crumble in disastrous fashion to a comeback from Complexity on Overpass. The victory from Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's side means they'll face Vitality for a direct berth to the semi-finals, while Astralis and HEROIC will face off in an all-Danish derby with elimination on the line.

It seemed like expectations for a good match would be met as the lead exchanged hands at the onset of the series, an early start from Complexity spiraling away after Benjamin "blameF" Bremer won a 1v2 clutch to briefly put Astralis ahead 4-3. That narrow margin quickly faded away, however, with Ricky "floppy" Kemery stepping up massively with multi-kills on the defense to grant Complexity a 7-5 lead at the break.

The American-majority team closed in on map point after the side swap, back-to-back quad kills from Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski allowing them to rack up four rounds in a row before Astralis finally responded. The Danes made an effort to comeback, but it ended up purely cosmetic as just five rounds in, Complexity converted a B split and hit match point before closing things out.

Overpass was an entirely different story as Astralis hit the server rejuvenated, mustering a strong defensive showing that held Complexity to just two rounds at the break. An additional pistol round win and subsequent anti-eco put blameF's men on the brink of forcing a third map at 12-2, but it was here that they completely crumbled.

A 14-round streak from Complexity saw them completely shut down Astralis' attacking efforts, with the Danes only getting the bomb down once in regulation in the final round of the half. That plant nearly resulted in victory, but a pivotal 2K from JT, who was having an excellent map, allowed Complexity to force overtime, where they ran away with the game.

Danish CS at tier 1 is dead, and people thinks Stabbi and Stavn will save Astralis xD. Atleast get Blame of igl, maybe they can do something.

Excactly. cause all the good igls, they know danish CS is dead and actually wanna win something. Astralis should go international aswell. just not enough firepower from dansih tier 1 players. Either that or they have to invest in young stars for longer time then some month and get them experience.

Nice choke but overall is hard to win with 19-44 on two maps and not motivated enough b0rup. I think that is hard to play when they both knows that they will be removed. But overall nothing cant explain this choke.
