The Canadian star leaves FaZe after almost three years amid reports that he is on his way back to Liquid.

Twistzz leaves the No.1 team in the world

Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken and FaZe have gone their separate ways, the Canadian player has confirmed. The 24-year-old departs FaZe after they rose to the top following CS2's release, with reports linking him with a return to Liquid.

"Before IEM Sydney started, the team knew of my departure. I knew it was going to be a last dance, but I could have never anticipated the success that followed," Twistzz said in his statement.

"I have made lifelong friends in this team and organization, and if the opportunity ever happened again, I would be proud to wear a FaZe jersey once more," he wrote.

"I know the decision might be shocking to some. I will be revealing more later on, but for now, I can say I am ready to move on to another challenge."

Twistzz is expected to join Liquid in the coming days as a part of a rebuild that will also reportedly feature the additions of Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller, Felipe "⁠skullz⁠" Medeiros, and coach Wilton "⁠zews⁠" Prado.

The Canadian joined FaZe in January of 2021 and won a plethora of titles with the European lineup, including the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and the Intel Grand Slam Season 4. After a slow end to the CS:GO era, the Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen-led squad regained their title-winning form in CS2 and won IEM Sydney, Thunderpick World Championship, and the CS Asia Championship.

Vitality were the ones to finally stop their 18-match winning streak after beating them at the BLAST Fall Final. The match against Vitality was Twistzz's last appearance for FaZe, who need to find a replacement before their next outing at the BLAST World Final, starting on December 13.

frozen is probably the first choice, but he is locked in to mouz with a contract and they definitely wouldn't let him go for cheap. FaZe aren't in the same position they were in years ago where spending obscene money on player transfers was the norm, so I can't see this happening. G2 are probably willing to let a benched player who they are still paying a salary for to go for a lot cheaper than Mouz.

disagree, even if they dont have the same role, faze already has a lot of aggressive players in rain and karrigan. Their entry pack will still be karrigan + rain + broky, and jks and ropz will be extremities. And jks is a deadly anchor which is always good to have. they will have ropz and jks anchor their bombsites which is very strong

I would have agreed a year ago. Now we have doznens of bigger talents

The talents might be there but being an x factor still isnt something you can learn, sure the hyper talents like Jimpphat or Donk can aim and are as smart as any IGL 9 years ago, but the stage experience and stepping up when its needed most is something that sets Twistzz apart. Obviously at some point a better player will emerge but I feel like currently it still might me hard to find such a well rounded experienced player with the aim to back it up.
