NiKo ended the series at the bottom of the board with a 0.98 rating

G2 are out of CCT Online Finals 5 after suffering a 1-2 loss to Guild Eagles in the lower bracket. The Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen-led side were completely blown out on the Kosovar team's Mirage pick (3-13) and responded in kind on Inferno (13-4), but narrowly faltered on the Overpass decider (11-13).

The defeat marks the second in a row for G2, who were cast down to the lower bracket of the tournament following a despondent showing against Aurora on Tuesday.

In that series, a poor performance from Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov was cause for concern, but against Guild Eagles the Russian sniper was back to his best.

His 1.45 rating across the series put him at the top of the board across both teams and was a large contributor to G2's blowout win on Inferno, but it wasn't enough to make up for a downtrodden performance from Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač, who tied HooXi with a 0.98 rating at the bottom of the board.

The defeat doesn't rest just on NiKo's shoulders, however, with G2's campaign in the event as a whole leaving much to be desired compared to their usual level.

The sudden removal of Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage and addition of Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković hasn't paid off in their debut event — which also included a very shaky win over Sprout — and they'll have much to work on ahead of their opening match against MOUZ at the BLAST World Final.

Man. Idk. I watched all 3 of their recent series against Sprout, Aurora, and Guild Eagles. I really don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that those were all clean matches. Even the caster (Dweg) mentioned at one point during Nuke in the Aurora series that this wasn't your average stomping, and that something felt 'very off'. I know players have bad games, even long stretches of bad games, and they just slotted in nexa, so the chemistry and roles will take some time to iron out, but the shit that was happening in those matches and the choices some of the players made was definitely not normal.

No one really knows the team dynamic and who is change so I’m not mad at Niko, but I wouldn’t say I feel sorry for him. Not that its not alive, but ive been to Canada for afew years and the server choices for most/if not all online games is drool worthy.
