MAG, Twisted Minds eliminated from Asia RMR

The two replacement squads struggled to make their presence felt in the event.

D0cC and co. failed to notch a map win in Shanghai

The first two matches in PGL Major Copenhagen Asia RMR's lower bracket have drawn to a close, seeing ATOX and JiJieHao prevail over MAG and Twisted Minds, respectively. The latter two squads, who were called in as replacements for Trouble makers and 15 Average after visa issues prevented their participation, have now been sent packing from the Asia RMR.

Although ATOX and JiJieHao will no doubt be pleased by their performances to start the second day of the event, the two sides now face daunting matchups in the lower bracket, set to play against TYLOO and Grayhound, respectively.

Trouble makers replaced by MAG in Asia RMR

Day two of play kicked off with Mongolian side ATOX tussling with MAG for a shot at keeping their RMR dreams alive. The series began on Ancient, where each of these two squads had previously received crushing 13-4 defeats on day one at the hands of Grayhound and The MongolZ.

Initially, it seemed that this game of Ancient was set to be another blowout, as ATOX laid out a dominant CT side on their opponent's pick, often making aggressive plays that MAG struggled to match. After being rewarded for their efforts with a 9-3 half, ATOX struggled to close things out in the second half, allowing MAG to bring the deficit to two rounds before ATOX managed to steal away Ancient 13-9.

ATOX were not interested in allowing their map pick of Nuke to be as close as Ancient had been, as the Mongols leaped ahead to a 7-0 start on the offense. Although MAG briefly quelled the streak, ATOX retorted with six rounds in a row to close out the map 13-3.

Twisted Minds replace 15 Average in Asia RMR

The other side of the lower bracket saw JiJieHao and Twisted Minds square off in what proved to be a far more competitive series, despite only going to two maps. After trading streaks of rounds early into Inferno, Twisted Minds ultimately pulled ahead to claim a solid 8-4 lead heading into their CT side.

Despite the deficit, Hussein "m1N1" Hijazi and Issa "ISSAA" Murad were firing on all cylinders for JiJieHao, fueling their comeback efforts on the offense. Twisted Minds managed to periodically scrape together enough rounds to reach match point first, but a 1v3 clutch from Aleksei "El1an" Gusev dragged the map into overtime, where JiJieHao managed to steal away the map 16-14.

Despite fumbling their map pick, Twisted Minds managed to procure a solid start to Anubis, garnering seven of the first nine rounds to build up a strong lead on the defense. ISSAA was not at all daunted by this deficit as he led the charge for JiJieHao, helping the team put together a dominant streak of ten rounds to reach match point. Twisted Minds managed to briefly halt this streak, but were unable to prevent JiJieHao from closing out the map 13-8, eliminating them from the Asia RMR in last place.
