Official: Stewie2K joins Legacy as stand-in

The ELEAGUE Major Boston winner will step in for the Brazilian team in its upcoming tournaments.

Stewie2K is replacing coldzera on Legacy as a stand-in

Former Cloud9 and Liquid player Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip is linking up with Legacy on a temporary basis, the Brazilian organization has announced. The 26-year-old will fill the void left by Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David, who was moved to the bench just days after the team returned home from PGL Major Copenhagen.

In a post on X, Legacy said that Stewie2K will be helping the team "in this moment of transition to the USA," though they didn't disclose how long he will play with the team. But, according to Dust2 Brasil, the ELEAGUE Major Boston champion will play with Legacy over the course of April in online competitions like ESEA and the qualifiers for the Esports World Cup.

Moreover, Legacy are reportedly treating this as a trial and could offer Stewie2K a permanent deal if the team is successful.

This is not the first time that Stewie2K will play for a Brazilian team. He spent most of 2018 playing for SK and MIBR alongside players like Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo and coldzera.

Stewie2K has been away from action since July 2022, when he stepped down from Evil Geniuses' roster and switched his focus to streaming. Eight months later, however, he announced that he was ready to compete again. "I'm ready to grind, always loved it, and if the time comes where I need to grind again and compete at the highest level I'm ready to do so," he wrote at the time.

Legacy, who crashed out of the Copenhagen Major's Opening Stage in 9th-11th place, currently have:
