dexter on C9 win: "I hope it's a confidence boost"
FlyQuest made their international debut under the new banner with a statement win.

FlyQuest arrived in Chengdu off the back of a tumultuous month. After failing to qualify for PGL Major Copenhagen, the Australians' former organization, Grayhound, ceased operations and they were forced to look for backing.
It didn't take long for them to land a new home, though, with American organization FlyQuest taking Christopher "dexter" Nong's team under their wings.
Under the new banner, the team has just made its international debut with a statement victory over Cloud9 in the opening round of IEM Chengdu. Following the match, dexter spoke to HLTV about why preparation was the key to the win, signing with the new organization, and rumors linking them with the addition of Justin "jks" Savage.
A very important win for the team in a game where you won 12 rounds in a row. Were you confident heading into this game?
Confident? Not too sure. But well prepared? Definitely.
Was it easier than you expected?
We were just well prepared. I think that, in the first six rounds, we kind of shit ourselves a little bit, not going to lie. But after that, we slowly got back in and we were in control of the economy a lot of the time. It was really easy to get back in. I'm just thankful for that.
What was the preparation for this event like?
A couple of us had a lot of travel problems, so there was a lot of chaos going on. But in general, we were just playing Australian teams. Not to bag them out too much, but it's not the same as Europe. We're just trying different ways of making sure we're more prepared. And it's just a different way to approach CS.
Is this victory a confidence boost and also a way to silence some of the critics?
Yeah, definitely. It's especially nice to play our first game under FlyQuest and beat such a really good team. I hope it's a confidence boost, but I don't want to get out of hand because anything can happen and it's still a BO1. That's how it goes in the end.
Obviously, getting your first win when you're playing for a new organization is always important. Can you walk me through those weeks when you didn't have an organization? Were you always confident that you'd be able to find an organization?
I think we were always confident. It was a pretty crazy time because I had to do my in-game leading job, then I somehow got into management, and then also had to find an org for everyone. I was, like, doing three things, and it was a pretty crazy time for me. But I'm just glad we ended up finding a home.

There were some rumors that you were in talks with PSG Talon and that you could bring in jks. Was there anything to it or was it just speculation?
Can't comment. [laughs]. Anything could have happened. Yeah, no comment. [laughs].
Fair enough. I wanted to ask you about the fact that Asia will have one more spot at the next Major. How important is that for your team, especially after missing the last Major? Is it a boost for you?
Yeah, it's a huge boost. TheMongolz and Lynn Vision did great at that tournament, so it's really nice to kind of have a little backup just in case, and it kind of relieves the stress of those kinds of tournaments for us.
What are your goals for the rest of the event?
It's tough to say. We're just playing and trying to make sure we're doing all the things in-game right. For the tournament overall, I don't think we have any goals. It's how we conduct ourselves and grow. That's probably the most important thing for me.
