FlyQuest sign ex-Grayhound roster

The Australian team have found a home ahead of their upcoming international LAN appearances.

dexter and company have found a new organization to call home

North American organization FlyQuest have announced the signing of the former Grayhound roster, who have recently been competing as Jeeves. Grayhound ceased operations recently after their failure to qualify for PGL Major Copenhagen, the team disappointingly finishing third at the Asia RMR after losses to The MongolZ and Lynn Vision.

Grayhound cease operations after Major failure

The signing of the Jeeves roster marks FlyQuest's first foray into men's Counter-Strike, with the organization having signed Impact stalwarts FlyQuest RED in June of last year.

Christopher "dexter" Nong's troops will be confident of qualifying for the upcoming Major after The MongolZ earned Asia an extra spot in Shanghai with their top-16 run in Copenhagen.

However, FlyQuest President and CGO Christopher "PapaSmithy" Smith, who is Australian, rejected the notion that the signing is tied to the region's increased number of Major slots.

"For me, Grayhound falling on rough times served as a metaphor for the current state of the Australian esports scene," he told HLTV. "With publisher support at an all-time low, being able to set this roster up for success and act as a benchmark for what a successful esports team based in Australia can look like is a very personal mission for me.

"This decision wasn’t about the best entry point into Counter-Strike or a zero-sum game around Majors, it’s about providing another generation of Aussie FPS fans with a team to root for as they fight for respect internationally."

Questioned about how the practice issues often encountered by Oceanic sides will be dealt with, Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey, FlyQuest's Chief Culture Officer, said that the organization is committed to providing the necessary conditions for the team to thrive.

"FlyQuest is determined to invest in the team’s growth by adding resources to the already existing squad," missharvey stated. "While a fresh EU bootcamp schedule is already in the works for the next few months, we also acknowledge the quick turnaround required from both parties to unite for IEM Chengdu’s paperwork deadline.

"We will need to get to know each other a bit more to define what exactly is needed from FlyQuest and also for the team to play at their best. One thing is for sure, you can expect FlyQuest to support this new team with the same amount of care it has given to our other divisions."

The Australian team will make its first appearance under FlyQuest's banner at IEM Chengdu on April 8. They will take on Cloud9 in the opening round of Group B, which also includes FaZe, Astralis, Virtus.pro, Nemiga, Monte and Wildcard.

Australia has the worst roster moves ever, that is they have very few. They find a group of guys good enough to win regional qualifiers and never aim higher, this is the difference between the Mongolz and AUCS. The only hope for AUCS is if Rooster and/or Bad News Kangaroos can embarrass this org into making changes.

He needs to join an eu team. I thinkFlyQuest really dropped the ball on this one they could have atleast -aliStair for an EU awp. Any FPL awper is better than that bot.

lol bro, calm yourself down. This organization would have never signed these guys if MONGOLZ hadn't been given an extra spot in the major for Asia. That's an easy 2-3 million dollars in the bag. Additionally, GH has already qualified for Dallas IEM, providing more exposure to potential sponsorships

There aren't many good awpers in the region so they just pick the best stache I reckon. It's unfortunate because Renegades actually made a major semi final despite having a well below average awper.

Not really a waste of money, their competition for 2-3 Asia slots is Lynn Vision, Atox and Tyloo. All they need is an AWPer who can hit half his shots and they are in the Major, if they can get jks that would be even better.

They were bought out by the Viola family almost 2 years ago and had a surge in funding. The Viola family owns the Florida Panthers who are a Top 4 NHL team and last year's finalists. They've always been pretty smart about their investments because they always try to make the most of it. Which is most likely why they haven't tapped into tier 1/2 CS until now. Esports wise, their LCS team locked into the grand finals after 3-0'ing C9 and booked a ticket to the first International of the year. Additionally, they also sponsor multiple top level Fighting game players who consistently make top 8 or take titles like Punk, Jmook, and TempestNYC.

This team is just a friends project like ATK was. Fortunatly Osee and Floopy moved to tier 1 but ex-Grayhound wont ever be great with aliStair sadly. Not the best upgrade out there but Kaze is benched. They could try him atleast.

Chief Culture Officer - don't want so sound rude or arrogant but what is this even title about? Manager? I mean, all words are understandable, but I'm interested how many people do they have in the org?

FlyQuest is a big-ish org so hopefully they have grander plans than playing in 2 tier tournaments per year. So this means EU bootcamps and -Alistair
