Wonderful_Y handed FACEIT ban for cheating

Just one day after Martin "⁠STYKO⁠" Styk published an unknowingly premonitory video titled The Best FACEIT Player is not who you think it is..., featuring demo reviews of Dmytro "⁠Wonderful_Y⁠" Horkusha, the Ukrainian player has been handed a two-year ban for cheating on FACEIT. It is also a day after the latest update to FACEIT's anti-cheat client.

To make matters worse, the 23-year-old was briefly a teammate of Alvar "⁠consss⁠" Rämman, who got banned from European Pro League 2nd Division Season 9 on cheating allegations after a demo review in a series between The Prodigies and MOUZ NXT. After that series, the player agency dropped its academy project.

The Ukrainian player also tried to shake off the cheating allegations, as consss did at the time, but with little success. He admitted to using the sv_cheats bug — a bug that for a brief time allowed cheat-protected commands to be enabled through the console on public servers — and chalked it up to that, trying to tie his story up with what happened to the former Eternal Fire Academy duo when they used the exploit.

Wonderful_Y was quickly called out by a FACEIT employee, however, who stated that "All players detected for using the sv_cheats exploit were banned shortly after the exploit occurred. There have been no bans issued since."

When the truth that Wonderful_Y was speaking got debunked, it made the closing words in his defense stand out even more: "I wanted to leave anyways to irl after faceit season, seems it’s a good time to go."
