MOUZ claim No. 1 for first time in history

FaZe have been knocked off their perch for the first time since February.

Back-to-back wins in Malta and Serbia put siuhy's men at top spot

MOUZ have risen to number one in the HLTV World Rankings for the first time in the organization's history.

The German club reached No. 2 on three prior occasions for a total of 17 weeks, under the leadership of Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong in 2018, Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen in 2020, and current skipper Kamil "⁠siuhy⁠" Szkaradek in November 2023.

But, after successive triumphs at ESL Pro League 19 and BetBoom Dacha Belgrade, MOUZ's current lineup have gone one better and claimed top spot with the maximum allowance of 1000 points.

MOUZ have won ten series in a row, dropping just three maps, and won two best-of-five finals in 3-0 fashion during the streak.

The only asterisk on their record is that both LANs took place without a huge crowd, though MOUZ will have a chance to translate their studio dominance to an arena at IEM Dallas before the summer break.

ZywOo masterclass ends FaZe's final streak

MOUZ's climb upwards comes at the expense of FaZe, who drop to second for the first time since February 5, before IEM Katowice.

karrigan and company's CS2 grand final streak came to an end at eight in a row in Pro League's quarter-finals, opening the door for their traditional challenger MOUZ to barge past them.

The other big movers include Falcons, who finally turned a corner in Belgrade with a top-four finish and rise to 13th.

Everyone know that FAZE is still NUMBER ONE in reality Why? In CS2 made in all previous CS2 Pro Tier-1 events 7/8 of Grand Finals, won half. Mouz what, won two events and suddendly HLTV ranking think they are number 1 after 8th in Major recently... Mouz is also No.1 in the ESL Ranking...because both rankings try to reflect a current state of the scene. Which is good, considering how many invites ESL dishes out based on their ranking, so current success should account for more. Neither ranking though claims to show the "Best Team in the World"...only the best performing one. And considering that Mouz, even though they often had stretches of really good performances never claimed the first spot before should tell you that it isn't as easy as you make it out to be.

Ranking system is broke also in ESL rankings and Valve rankings, because system "forgot 'old' results" so fastly. It doesn't realize that there can be huge time between tournaments. All CS2 Tier-1 tournaments should have longer period they are count in rankings, thats how you fix the broken system. And mouz isn't the best performing team in CS2, FaZe is by far compared to any other CS2 team if we watch all results. Ranking doesn't work if its only count 2 last tournament heavily.

I never said they are the best performing team in CS2, I said they are the best performing team right now. You should also look up (which you won't, I know) how the point-decay works and what exactly the ranking is based on. Mouz won two tournaments in a single month. Actually, if you look at the last three months (May, April, March), Mouz had better results than FaZe in S-Tier Tournaments. The more interesting question is why you get butthurt over a cosmetic ranking that might very well change next month already...

First of, there isn't such thing as "best performing team right now". It takes time to measure who is best performing. Otherwise we could say that Bundesliga team that is worst in season 2023-24: Darmstadt 98 with 3 win is best if they happen to win 1 or 2 games against best team Leverkusen (top of Bundesliga) that Darmstadt 98 is the best... just crazy idea You get whats wrong in your logic?

That's not how it works. Mouz didn't just win "one or two games", they won two tournaments in dominant fashion. A realistic comparison would be more towards something like Tennis. Djokovic is still No. 1 in the ranking right now, but is he the best player currently? No, he is actually struggling quite a bit, same with some other top-dogs. Buuuut because the ATP-ranking scores the last year, he is still holding up because something he did a year ago. Not saying that this is bad, but if you wanted to know who is currently the "hottest player" going into Paris, the answer would probably not be Djokovic.

Before SK existed, CS got dominated by 1) eoLithic 2) NiP (when NiP started to become great they became better than eoL, but not early months in 99-00) 3) Alternate.ATTAX 4) SoA 5) aAa 6) team9 7) Alternate.ATX 8) mTw, some years after that it was 1) SK (some of Matrix/NiP) 2) Mousesports 3) mTw 4) team 9 5) esu (later became team9.esu) 6) a-Losers. They never were the best. That's what I remember lively. Out of all best teams in different early versions of CS (b6 till 1.6) I would say SK-Gaming were the ones that dominated the scene the most, by a large margin. SK HeatoN SK Potti SK ahl SK SpawN SK XeqtR no better team than that. Also always prefered the German team Alternate over mTw. mTw had gob b (what I remember), but ALT.ATX was legendary with Roman R. - CHEF KOCH - gore - Kapio (also was in mTw before ALT.ATX together with gore). ROMAN was just one of the very best and mostly, most consistent player out there, but the overall best player not considering consistency would be HeatoN for sure. edit: Best 1.6 team for me was NoA with Naikon, bsl, knoxville, shaGuar and method. And then spawn joined after that And yes that Noa team was so good good times for cs Also i would say the Polish 5 Pentagram/MYM dominated cs 1.6 they were consistantly beating any variation of the SK/Nip teams And then came MTW which dominated for a while but the Polish 5 always gave them a run for their money And then came Navi with Starrix and markeloff which dominated at the end of cs 1.6

Why is it likely? Because Faze has been on the top for so long now, and it's more "prestigious" because of it? Right now Siuhy has a great backing and care from the org, they have a roster they have been taking care of since Academy along with Sycrone, they have a great dynamic and right now they have proven to themselves they can just stay at the top. The MOUZ org has a history of dealing players to the top instead of staying on the top, but that has clearly changed, and all players have expressed that they are happy with how MOUZ is treating them. Why bother with transferring to Faze when you can just take MOUZ above Faze in every aspect? Especially that Faze is an unstable org that is mostly likely headed in some wacky crypto direction. Staying with MOUZ where you already have everything you need and more is a nobrainer.

They have also had a stellar history of their academy program, which they have now turned into the main roster, along with the coach. And they became #1. They stopped dealing to the top, and instead plan to stay at the top. And even if they would still be selling players, it’s one of the best places to be then, since they built them from the ground up and made them worth a lot. All while taking care of them in a significant way.

Frozen was lined up to join Karrigan along with Ropz, Brollan was meant to complete the new roster. Sure, Jimi turned out to be a star, but Siuhy turns out to be next gen's top 1 IGL and with the help of Sycrone and Xyp9x they also turned torzsi and xertioN into beasts, along with Brollan and Jimi. They have promoted academy team with great success, they have been carefully working on their team dynamic and atmosphere for 3 years now, and they have also brought Xyp9x for his experience and big stage insights. And now they are #1 for the first time in MOUZ's history with average age of 20.6, and in around 8 months (5 with Brollan). Players are constantly speaking out how happy they are with the org, and org's official social media is posting how they plan to stay on top. You don't do all of that to just sell your top players now that you are THE top players. It's the first time MOUZ as an org has invested so much resources, care and social media presence for a roster. But sure, it's the same as it has always been.

Sure it makes sense. If the week/event that gets erased by decay is a week/event that VIT was much more succesful than NaVi, they lose more points in that decay-circle.
