9z secure IEM Dallas playoffs spot; Complexity eliminated
9z make history for South American Counter-Strike outside of Brazil as they secure their first arena appearance.

The first day of IEM Dallas came to an end with a qualification match between Liquid and 9z going the way of the South American side 2-1 and MOUZ sending Complexity home in the second elimination series of the tournament.
It is a hallmark moment for the 9z squad, who secured only their second-ever Big Event playoffs appearance after last year's ESL Pro League S18 and their first ever in an arena with the victory over Liquid.
The Latin American side previously took down MOUZ in a shocking result of the opening round on Nuke and proved their mettle in series play and under heavy pressure as well.
9z came back from a 3-9 and 8-12 deficit in another Nuke affair to win the opening map against Liquid in overtime. After Anubis went the other way, Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez stepped up to the plate on Dust2 with several multikills kickstarting 9z's CT side on the new map in the pool, and the AWPer's openers in the second half also proved crucial in 9z being able to close the map after a Liquid resurgence late in the map.

In the series between Complexity and MOUZ, the North American side flipped the coin by picking the new Vertigo against the No. 1 team. Despite Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin's best efforts to save the European squad up against several map points, Complexity won the first map out after a scrappy overtime battle.
MOUZ then scraped through an Ancient equalizer that nearly ended in another overtime after the favorites nearly gave an 11-4 lead away to a persistent Complexity side.
Brollan had kept up the form from Vertigo going into map two and proceeded to light up the server on Nuke with two clutches early, which allowed MOUZ to amass momentum in the first half and come away with a straightforward 13-6 win on the decider.
