RMR dates create scheduling clash with BLAST World Final

The TO may be forced to bring the event forward following Perfect World's announcement.

The BLAST World Final is scheduled for November 13-17

The qualifying process for the Perfect World Shanghai Major has created a scheduling clash that sees three Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments overlap with the BLAST Premier World Final.

The BLAST World Final is set to be played from November 13 to 17 — a direct clash with the Asia, Americas and Europe A RMR events, which were announced by Perfect World earlier on Friday.

Open qualifiers removed in raft of Major rulebook changes

With the Shanghai Major ending the season, BLAST could be left with no option other than to move the event forward by a few weeks. There is an available window during the second half of October, after IEM Rio.

Below you can find the current November schedule:

China Asia RMR - November 11-14
China Americas RMR - November 12-15
Other BLAST Premier World Final - November 13-17
China Europe RMR A - November 17-20
China Europe RMR B - November 21-24
China Major Opening Stage - November 30-December 3

BLAST has not yet announced the location for the World Final. The last two editions were held in Abu Dhabi as part of a three-year partnership with AD Gaming.

HLTV has asked BLAST for comment.

They can rename the whole thing since it is de facto not the “world final” anymore. The major has effectively replaced it as that.

The way I see it, blast could remove world finals all together, take the operating costs to fall finals event, the prize pool too, since it is basically their best event of the year. Go back to royal arena, and make sure you start cementing it's place alongside Kato and Cologne in terms of the quality of the event

pretty sure they have to reserve the arena ahead of time in order to use it. And we're not going back to the Royal Arena due to it already being occupied.

I'm pretty sure the reason it's not in the royal arena is because we already had the royal arena used in the major this year and also Blast never fills all the seats, with most being empty

im talking about the event being good in terms of the arena, the crowd, the production. the partner league is going away soon so there's no point bringing up this whole 8 team thing. people talk about blast having good production but i'd argue ESL has far surpassed them

Has it ever warranted the name of "world final"?

Yes because it was literally the last big tournament of the year for years before Valve changed it so the major now is.

Tbh I haven't watched as much CS in the last years but when I used to watch more Blast tournament was always the joke BO1 tournaments. But I guess you can make a case for it being a de facto "world final" before. Still I would argue that the name suggests more significance that it actually was. Most players would definitely prefer winning a Cologne, Katowice before a Blast

They can do whatever they want with the name, I realized later that it’s called “world final” because multiple winners only come together there to play a “decider final” tournament, just it’s not the last big tournament anymore, before this gave the tournament more credit, this credit is now gone. And yes Kato Cologne are easily worth more, they are way bigger tournaments with actual tradition.

Majors are supposed to be the final event of the season from now on. Blast circuit on the other hand will likely lose most of its significance anyway starting next year.
