910 stars as The MongolZ edge past Astralis to make YaLLa Compass grand final
The MongolZ are one step closer to securing their second consecutive event win.

The MongolZ have locked down their place in the grand finals of YaLLa Compass 2024, taking down Astralis in a semi-final matchup that culminated in a hectic triple-overtime decider of Ancient.
An important piece in The MongolZ's win was AWPer Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch, who continued his stellar run of form in the event by averaging a team-high 1.29 rating versus Astralis.

With this win, The MongolZ have cemented their second grand final appearance in a row, as Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren's troops made their way to the Abu Dhabi event with a trophy from the MESA Nomadic Masters in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia under their belt.

While The MongolZ enjoy their upward momentum, Astralis will be lamenting their fourth consecutive semi-final exit. The team's departure from YaLLa Compass will sting even more, as the Danish side squandered a number of man-advantage situations on the Ancient decider to give The MongolZ an opportunity to win out the series.
The MongolZ hit their stride on the first map of Nuke, with several individuals stepping up to help steal away the Danes' map pick.
Ayush "mzinho" Batbold racked up a few crucial multi-kills early and Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold was a consistent force throughout the map for an 8-4 lead on the CT side, but it was the Mongolian sniper 910 who came up big with a 1vs3 clutch in the second half to crush any possibility of a comeback from the Danes.
Astralis answered back on Mirage with a throttling performance on the CT side, led almost single-handedly by a carry performance from Martin "stavn" Lund. The 22-year-old ended the first half 19-4 with 162.4 ADR and didn't let up after the side swap, posting a 2.05 rating to dominate The MongolZ on their map pick, 13-6.
Ancient gave us the deciding map we deserved and expected out of this series, although for much of the map it looked as if Astralis would run away with the game.
A 4-0 lead from The MongolZ became a distant memory as stavn and Alexander "br0" Bro combined to repeatedly take control of B Lane in a throttling defense that was good for a 7-5 lead, and Astralis quickly extended that edge to 9-5 after a pistol win in the second half.
The MongolZ stepped up with a stellar defensive effort of their own, however, powered by excellence from 910's AWP and phenomenal multi-kills from mzinho's relentless aggression in Donut.
They won six in a row to hit double digits first and quickly reached series point after, taking advantage of squandered a advantages by Astralis, but couldn't close in regulation as Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard and stavn helped forced overtime.
When extra rounds hit, however, the game devolved into more messy rounds and clutches aplenty, with The MongolZ coming out ahead twice only for Astralis to force a second and third overtime.
The Danes couldn't get the upper hand, however, despite gaining entry to bombsites repeatedly and being in advantageous situations, with a squandered 4vs2 and 5vs3 allowing The MongolZ to rally back and steal away the victory.
