Thomas and his new team are looking for a new organization despite a fantastic debut

Thomas "⁠Thomas⁠" Utting has announced that his team has left 5W after just 30 days and is looking for a new organization to represent.

"5W has scammed us unfortunately and gone back on their word, and have stopped all communication with players," the British in-game leader revealed in a post on X.

"[Obviously] the organisation did us wrong, we are grinding together for a month now and developing really well. We are just looking for an opportunity to represent someone legit and prove we are capable of this on LAN."

5W Gaming, a brand-new esports organization said to be based out of Bangalore, India, announced the surprise signing of Thomas' new lineup in May.

In the aftermath, Indian commentator Sudhen "⁠Bleh⁠" Wahengbam called the announcement "random" and stated he had never heard of the organization despite them claiming to be based out of his city.

In a reply to Dust2.us Senior Editor Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore, Thomas explained the strange circumstances around the signing and revealed that the organization "paid several players upfront to sign, then totally vanished."

Asked about whether he thought the owners were hoping to make some quick sponsorship money or quickly sell off players and disappear, Thomas gave further context about why he remains puzzled.

"Well from our [understanding] they are [millionaires] so money wasn't a problem, they legit just stopped replying, fired our GM (Media guy vanished) and they never responded again," he said.

The team, now on HLTV under ex-5W, played just 14 maps under the organization's banner in Regional Clash Arena Europe, a $60,000 tournament wherein they beat the likes of GamerLegion, 3DMAX, and Gaimin Gladiators en route to a tournament victory.

Team Secret just recently pulled out, maybe they can buy this roster in again just in time for Shanghai major. Apeks put their CS division on hold, but if their Valorant team wins promotion they could pick this team up. Another long shot would be Sprout, I just want them back in the scene again.

they were never millionaires, i think that the 5w "ceo" is some random 16yo indian kid with 20$ in his bank acct who thought "oh im gonna own an esports team now" and made some contracts and thats it boom the fact that they only played under 5w for a SINGLE MONTH (so no salaries would be paid yet) is what leads me to think that, he technically only needs the money to pay salaries since afaik all of them were free agents so he dont need to pay them shit until the month has passed and now the jig is up they(players) exposed that brokie

That doesn't refer to the players being paid, they paid other orgs for the players since they were still contracted, in fact all of them but h4rn were on contracts with other orgs. Seems they just waisted their money, just a really bizarre situation.

He didn't mention the buyout of the player contracts at all, that's a separate issue and not related to what the players get paid. You know players can also get paid sign on bonuses as well, it tends to sweeten the deal if the player is not sure about switching teams.
