BetBoom withdraw from Skyesports Championship over conditions, fairness concerns

The Russian side cited "unmet promised conditions" among the reasons for their withdrawal.

BetBoom had not yet played a match at Skyesports Championship before they withdrew

BetBoom has announced their withdrawal from Skyesports Championship 2024 due to "unmet promised conditions and unsuccessful attempts to resolve issues with the organizers."

This news comes after the tournament organizers cancelled the first day of play after only one BO1, contested by The MongolZ and True Rippers, due to internet and power issues.

Skyesports Championship matches postponed due to technical issues

BetBoom's statement went on to say that they "believe that fair competition requires a level playing field for all teams, which is currently not the case." It is not clear exactly what BetBoom are referring to, but rumours have circulated that not everyone is using the same PCs during the tournament.

Skyesports Championship 2024 has been plagued by negative press since teams arrived at the event, with conditions criticized and Kirill "⁠Magnojez⁠" Rodnov claiming that BetBoom had their practice PCs taken away with no warning.

Dacha's entire point is to have a chill tournament with great conditions for the players, kinda like gaming paradise but actually decently organised. I mean dacha translates into "vacation house" from russian and their first tournament was in Dubai and I remember some videos from players just chilling by the pool from there. Even if betboom sucks to watch, they are at least competent enough to not have players withdraw day 1 lmao

Sure, but I don't think that's at all uncommon for CS events. I think the Pro League season before last had a bunch of delays during the playoffs games too.

The instance I'm referencing was 2+ hour delays DURING a match, organised by ESL. I think stuff like that sometimes just happens, and if that were the only problems for this event I don't think it would've been a huge deal either. The surrounding circumstances however are really bad.

I think the same could be said for BetBoom, their second event went pretty alright. They're fairly new to organising events as well so I'll cut them some slack. Same COULD NOT be said about whoever organised this Skyesports tragedy though..

I might be wrong but in my opinion the tournament organizer with the least technical issues is Blast. So Blast>ESL>PGL>random dude in an internet cafe>skyesports.

Nah you clearly don't remember the daily reschedules and 2 hour pauses like twice a day. 6 hours worth of games would take 10 hours most days. Still way better than this event tho lol

The price money is quite high even tho im 95% sure no ones gonna get it. But still it acts as a good bait. And the more things go as messed as theyve got so far, the more serious teams withdraw so winning the price money gets even more relevant for the teams left.
