FURIA, paiN, Falcons, and Eternal Fire advanced from the first stage to secure spots in the best-of-three, double-elimination bracket, with the two Brazilian teams securing the higher seeds from the Play-in after winning best-of-ones in their respective group finals.

As a result, Falcons and Eternal Fire have been matched up against the champions of BetBoom Dacha and BetBoom Dacha Belgrade S1, Spirit and MOUZ, respectively, in the first round of games and on opposite sides of the bracket.

Leonid "⁠chopper⁠" Vishnyakov's side arrives in Belgrade looking to shrug off a disastrous showing at IEM Cologne, where Spirit won a combined eight rounds in three out of four map losses. The Russian in-game leader told HLTV that he had the wrong expectations of the team at the event and touched on some issues that cropped up before Cologne, which he says the team has tried to solve ahead of Dacha.

"The most important thing for us at this event is to join the server and enjoy playing with each other," he said.

Spirit were beaten by MOUZ in Belgrade the last time out, and Kamil "⁠siuhy⁠" Szkaradek's men have remained in excellent form since then while starting to take strides toward shaking off struggles in big arenas by beating G2 in the quarter-finals of IEM Cologne and taking the fight to Natus Vincere in a close 0-2 defeat.

The two teams are heavy favorites in the double-elimination bracket, with the other opening-round games featuring teams looking to turn around lackluster starts to the season.

Virtus.pro's identity struggles since adding Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov continue to plague them, and their issues on the server were laid bare in a 0-2 loss to Falcons in BLAST Fall Showdown. The team comes into Belgrade hoping to bounce back against FURIA, but with Spirit or a rematch against Falcons next in the cards, a solution to their spiral will be needed post-haste.

HEROIC, too, are in troubled waters. Although visa issues for Abdul "⁠degster⁠" Gasanov have hamstrung the Norwegian organization in some of its tournament appearances, the team's communication and team play has been a glaring issue, with Eetu "⁠sAw⁠" Saha admitting after HEROIC were eliminated from the Showdown that there are a lot of problems they need to fix.
