Wildcard qualify for ESL Challenger Atlanta

The international squad earned their spot via the NA closed qualifier.

Wildcard became the penultimate team to qualify for ESL Challenger Atlanta, set to take place from October 4-6, after a successful run through the North American closed qualifier.

The victory comes amid a fruitful run of form for Wildcard, who qualified for the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR with a 3-0 record and are currently on a 15-match winning streak.

Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz and company progressed through the Atlanta qualifier relatively easily, losing only one map across three series. They began their campaign with a straightforward win over Party Astronauts before getting the better of NRG in a closely contested match.

Wildcard faced off against NRG in the grand final; a rematch for all the marbles. Unfortunately for NRG, they were kept to only 13 rounds in the whole series, which cleared the path for Wildcard to reach the event in Atlanta.

Tim "⁠susp⁠" Ångström (1.31 rating), Aran "⁠Sonic⁠" Groesbeek (1.27), and Josh "⁠JBa⁠" Barutt (1.21) were all in fantastic form throughout the qualifier and took turns top-fragging for the team. The Swedish rifler topped the charts in the final with a 1.49-rated performance.

Seven additional teams will join Wildcard in Atlanta to fight for their share of the $100,000 prize pool and a place at ESL Pro League Season 21.

The last spot at the American event is up for grabs in the European closed qualifier, with the outcome set to be decided on August 31.
