G2 have been given a tough opening test

BLAST has revealed the first-round matches and group distribution for the Fall Final, scheduled for September 25-29.

The eight attendees have been split into two groups of four, with the top three teams from each group set to progress to the playoffs. The two group winners will be given a direct semi-final berth, while the second and third-placed teams will start their playoff campaigns in the quarters.

Group A is headlined by the opening clash between G2 and FaZe, their fifth this year, after Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen and company secured their spot at the tournament through the Showdown. The other two teams in their group are Natus Vincere and Falcons, who will meet in a clash between the highest and lowest-ranked squads at the event.

In Group B, a match between Astralis and Vitality will get the action underway before Spirit meet Liquid in the second opener, where Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken and company will look to build on an encouraging start under the Canadian's leadership.

Do you understand how blast qualification works? Most of the teams come from blast groups (invite only from partner teams, NOT rankings), and the ones who aren't have to do a bunch of online qualifiers. I think teams like MOUZ, Mongolz, EF, or SAW could be there if they didn't have to play these crappy qualifiers. Don't act like BLAST events have the best teams like an ESL event would (the exception is the world final)
