3DMAX core free to leave club before RMR

The contracts of four 3DMAX players currently end two days before the RMR begins in Shanghai.

Maka and company signed for 3DMAX in November 2023

Four 3DMAX players are set to have their deals expire on November 15, according to information posted by French leaker Sebastien "KRL" Perez and confirmed by HLTV's own sources.

If new contracts are not signed, that would make the world No.19 enter the November 17 European RMR and potentially lucrative Major and sticker cycle without an organization.

The newest addition to the squad, 20-year-old Filip "Graviti" Brankovic, is the exception with a deal stretching to February. He would have to be bought out from 3DMAX if the players wished to stay together as an orgless team or sign with a new club.

KRL has also reported that 3DMAX have previously been late in their payments of players' salary, allegations he detailed on November 16.

The 3DMAX organization have been here before, when Bryan "Maka" Canda was among the team that departed in 2019 citing broken promises from board level.

Former coach Adrien "killazoo" Legarda, who departed in April 2024, said on Twitter that this applied to former staff including himself and Italian analyst Carmine "Fisic0" Lorusso.

3DMAX's current management was approached for comment but did not respond before the article's publication.

The core of 3DMAX have played together for three years, dating back to their days as the unsigned DBL PONEY. The players also experienced payment troubles with HEET before signing to the revived French organization at the start of 2024.

While under 3DMAX, Maka's side have maintained their place in the top 30 and won Skyesports Championship 2024 on LAN over The MongolZ.

3DMAX are currently:

France Bryan "Maka" Canda
France Lucas "Lucky" Chastang
France Thomas "Djoko" Pavoni
France Pierre "Ex3rcice" Bulinge
France Filip "Graviti" Brankovic

France Damien "wasiNk" Dufour (coach)

well in this case, the roster is still guaranteed to go to the major. TOs take responsibility for everything regarding transport and hotels for all the teams invited. but yeah.. their salary is not safe..

Kameto, the CEO of Karmine Corp, recently said that for the moment the organisation was not yet ready to come to Counter-Strike, as it would require a new financial effort and more structuring.

This is bullshit. The 3DMax organization doesn't have a lot of money, and no sponsors, and despite that they were able to have the lineup for several months. Almost all the players are free, and graviti's buyout is very low, it would cost them almost nothing to have this team, and it would allow them to have a first team qualified for the major, while waiting to be more ambitious afterwards.
2024-09-16 16:13

The 3DMAX example isn't really relevant when you see that they still end up with debts and unpaid bills. Nevertheless, it's not the cost of a roster like 3DMAX that worries KC and Kameto, it's mainly the need to restructure the org better to welcome the team with a good coaching staff (all of which inevitably becomes more expensive) and a good place for bootcamp (currently, the offices in Paris and Berlin don't have the space to accommodate a new full-time roster). The aim is not to repeat some of the mistakes of the past by letting a roster manage itself.
2024-09-16 17:13

They have debts because no sponsors, no money coming in, nothing. This is not the case with the KC, quite the contrary. In terms of good coaching staff, Wasink is already there and seems like he's doing a very good job. Buying this lineup is a golden opportunity, the possibility of having your IG stickers from the first weeks of the structure's existence on the scene, it's the kind of opportunity for which you can modify your plans. And once again nothing obliges them to sign long contracts with the team if they want to change their ambition after the Shanghai major. Maka is a huge KC fan, he would sign for them even on a short contract, without a doubt.

I'm not saying it's not a good opportunity, I want to see KC on CS, I've been a fan of the org since its inception and CS should clearly be the next game to go to, but if Kameto says they've had to turn down certain projects including Double Poney and Looking4Org, it's because they're really not ready at the moment, especially with the arrival in LEC this year. But who knows, maybe we'll get a surprise at the KCX4 event.

I really hope so. I'm not a KC fan, but the French scene needs their presence on CS. When I see all the rosters they signed for the ESWC, I would find it amazing that they wouldn't try their luck for an opportunity like this.
2024-09-16 17:57

In fact, it was during an ESWC stream that Kameto said that it was too early for CS and Rainbow Six and that the org wasn't ready. And if they'd ever taken rosters on those games, it wouldn't have been great. But I have to admit now that you won't find the 3DMAX opportunity again, especially with their current ranking and the possibility of getting stickers (fans will buy massively).
2024-09-16 18:05

Kamel's words I interpret as: "we are not ready to be ambitious on these games". KC always wants to be at the top, it's normal given Kamel's mentality, so I completely understand that they want to be able to aim for the very high level in CS. But for me, the 3DMax opportunity would allow them to get a foothold in the game, to potentially have significant income via stickers, and then to be able to set up a structure allowing them to have greater ambitions. We'll see what happens anyway, but it would be a shame if they're being overtaken by structures like M8 or BDS. We'll see how it goes anyway, I'm crossing my fingers that they find a good structure, they deserve it.

We know that it will be hard to become ambitious directly on CS so I agree with you 3DMAX, it is the opportunity not to be missed. Moreover, François "Cnd" Balembois had been consulted for a potential arrival on CS, he confirmed that he had put on the table three projects for KC: win right away (impossible), win very quickly (complicated) or build like Mouz with trading (good but long term project).

they can take 3DMAX coaching staff, overall the team's payroll must cost 30/40K monthly, it's not a big expense

Yeah, but you've also got to bear in mind that KC has just entered in LEC (closed league) on League of Legends, so the costs have been significant. I hope we'll have a surprise at KCX4 (the KC's annual event) on 9 November. That's just a few days before the end of the 3DMAX players' contracts.

Welp, they got here with org support and now they're free to get sticker money without letting an org take a cut of the pie. Plus 3DMax owes them. Honestly seems like the perfect unfortunate circumstance if they can qualify to the major. They'd 100% be picked up after that anyway.

30k buy out is nothing lol. they got way WAAAAAAAY more for selling sunpayus, snappi and nertz(only maden left as free agent). and ofc that they would have to pay salaries...they were able to pay players players like spinx, sunpayus or nertz who were great up and comming players so they would definitely be able to pay those guys... and so what that they have a team atm? that team is going nowhere. ence will blow this team up sooner or later and having core of decent team that has rmr spot for literally 30k is really good option for them that they definitely can afford

Paying for 2 rosters is not the same as paying for one, not to mention that they signed new roster 9 months ago and if 3DMax guys won’t qualify for Shanghai ENCE would be stuck with both rosters.

They all have contractual obligations and the org will have to pay regardless. Bench 5 players and a new coach, in order to sign 6 more people without any guarantee of qualifying for the Major? This would be as stupid as EG with their 3 rosters.

benched players have reduced salary and i highly doubt that they gave those players some long term contracts...+they would try to sell them ofc. im not saying that they will do that btw. the only point was that they can definitely afford to sign 3Dmax team/core if they would want to

Man these boys are just so unlucky, I feel so bad for them, first they're orgless under DBL PONEY for so long, then they get into HEET, money issues, everything, again orgless, then they're in 3DMAX, again monesy issues and everything. Hopefully some good org picks them up because they really aren't a bad team, maybe a bit inconsistent, but not bad for sure, who knows how far they can go if they don't have to stress about money and other shit. GL boys!
