MIBR go 3-0 in Americas RMR to qualify for the Shanghai Major

MIBR will be back at a Major for the first time since PGL Major Antwerp in 2022.

MIBR have earned a spot at the PW Shanghai Major after securing their third straight victory in the Americas RMR in a well-fought series against Complexity, which they took 2-0 on Nuke (13-9) and Vertigo (13-11).

Emotions ran high after the match, with Felipe "⁠insani⁠" Yuji barely managing to hold back tears during his broadcast interview. "I’m very happy that we could make make it to the Major," he said. "I’m very happy about my teammates, they were amazing in this series, I’m realizing a dream."

The first map of the series, Nuke, started out as a close affair with MIBR sharp on the attack despite a fantastic performance from Michael "⁠Grim⁠" Wince on the A site, as he finished the 6-6 half with 13-5 and 110.8 ADR.

On the other side, it was André "⁠drop⁠" Abreu who shone with 12 kills after as many rounds and a staggering 152 ADR. Those six T rounds ended up being more than enough as MIBR took the reins on the defense and hit match point uncontested, giving up just three cosmetic rounds before securing their pick, 13-9.

MIBR then pulled off the heist on Vertigo, where Complexity are a feared opponent, and made their seven CT rounds count after switching sides. Rafael "⁠saffee⁠" Costa was the team's lodestar with plays like a 1vs2 clutch that put him on 20 kills in 15 rounds and gave MIBR the lead, 8-7.

After breaking Complexity's economy and hitting match point late in the map, 12-11, saffee once again took center stage in the final round of regulation, pulling off a brilliant fake on B in a 2vs2 situation which allowed Raphael "⁠exit⁠" Lacerda to plant freely on A — the game-winning play that gave MIBR passage to the Major.

Complexity are far from done, as they are now in the 2-1 pool alongside 9z, who also missed out on their chance to go 3-0 against Wildcard, as well as paiN, M80, FURIA, and Liquid, who tallied victories after going 1-1 in the first day of play.
