Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Opening StagepaiN and FURIA prevail to go 2-1, Wildcard and C9 face elimination
The Brazilian squads came out on top in two hard-fought matches to wrap up the 1-1 pool.
The 1-1 matches of the Perfect World Shanghai Major Opening Stage have drawn to a close, with paiN and FURIA emerging victorious in their respective best-of-one matches against Cloud9 and Wildcard.
The two Brazilian sides join BIG and Passion UA in the 2-1 pool, with the final two squads to be determined at the end of the day following the conclusion of the 2-0 matches.

FURIA overcame a surprisingly close matchup against North American side Wildcard, as Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's men had pulled away after a close first half on Vertigo to lay claim to a 12-7 scoreline, all but concluding the map.
Despite the efforts of Tim "susp" Ångström and Josh "JBa" Barutt, Wildcard were unable to convert their map point into a win, as FURIA clawed their way back on the offense to force overtime, eventually winning out 16-14 to claim a 2-1 record.

Rounding out the 1-1 matches was paiN's face-off against Cloud9 on Anubis. paiN built up an early lead on the offense, but Cloud9 soon whittled that away after the side swap. Ultimately, paiN managed to drag it over the line thanks to a solid showing from Lucas "lux" Meneghini, securing a hard-fought 13-11 victory for paiN.
