Media: Elevate to return with Brazilian lineup

After not fielding a team for nearly four months, Elevate seem poised to return with a Brazilian squad.

MIBR Academy rifler diozera is reportedly one of Elevate's first signings

Elevate are slated to make a return to Counter-Strike with a Brazilian squad, according to a report by Dust2.com.br. The American organization are reported to have already signed a trio of players alongside a coach.

Elevate's first signings come from a range of sources, having reportedly acquired Diogo "⁠diozera⁠" Oliveira Nunes from MIBR Academy, AWPer Gabriel "⁠lash⁠" Sampaio from Yawara, and Sandro "⁠skr⁠" Kakeru from orgless side Bad News Chickens.

Elevate have also acquired the services of coach Lucas "⁠zander⁠" Carvalho, who has bounced between coaching North and South American squads over the past two years.

ELEVATE sign timbermen ahead of Americas RMR

Elevate's last lineup was an American side, featuring Wyatt "⁠snav⁠" Phillippi, Deni "⁠dea⁠" Ediev, and Derek "⁠dare⁠" Brown, who continue to play together under the timbermen moniker. The team notably qualified for the PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR, but Elevate elected to release the squad after missing out on the Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR in late August.

This would not be Elevate's first foray into Brazil, having previously fielded two different Brazilian lineups between 2021 and 2022.

Elevate's rebuild will reportedly start with:

I'll try my best to explain, but sometimes Brazilians like to use some random suffix and "zera" is one of these, there is no meaning, it just looks and sound cool to say, in CS people use most because of Coldzera, but in another games and even in normal life people will randomly add a zera to words. Unlike "zin" that comes comes from "inho/inha" that in Portuguese is used to say small/little and even young like Ronaldinho, he was young and small (Random fact: Ronaldo Fenômeno R9 was called Ronaldinho in the beginning of his career and even won the '94 World Cup as Ronaldinho as there was a Ronaldão (Big Ronaldo) playing as defender). In CS a classic example is Snowzin as he is young and small.

It actually derives from -eira which is a common word ending in Portuguese, like “cart-eira” (wallet, a place to store “cart-ões”), “po-eira” (a bunch of dust or “pó” in Portuguese) and many Brazilian surnames like Pereira, Nogueira and Oliveira (which are also names of trees), which might be the origin for using -zera in Brazil
