dgt's 9z stint ends after five years

"For some time I felt that we weren't going down the same path and that I needed some fresh air and a change," dgt said of his departure from his long-time home.

In his five years with 9z, dgt helped the organization grow into a regular competitor on the tier-one scene

9z and Franco "dgt" Garcia have decided to part ways, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The Uruguayan star left the organization after a whopping five and a half years, during which 9z went from a little-known team to one regularly competing at some of the biggest events in the past two years.

The team first began to make waves with consecutive Major appearances in Antwerp and Rio in 2022. After getting more experience under their belt in 2023, in 2024 they hit their best result with a run to the semi-finals at IEM Dallas, followed by a win at the FiReLEAGUE Global Final.

The organization left the move largely unexplained in its statement. "Following several conversations with the team and the rest of the organization, we have decided to part ways from now on," a translation of 9z's X announcement reads.

"We regret that you feel a lack of information in our communication. It is subject to many factors: the desire of the players, the regulations of the tournaments, the legal agreements in force, etc."

dgt himself took to X to offer some insight and to thank his long-time organization. "Personally, for some time it felt that we weren't going down the same path and that I needed some fresh air and a change," he said.

9z have yet to announce the replacement for dgt. In their last match in the ACE South American Masters Spring closed qualifier, the team utilized the services of coach Gustavo "yel" Knittel in place of the Uruguayan.

9z have the following roster:

Uruguay Maximiliano "max" Gonzalez
Argentina Luca "Luken" Nadotti
Spain Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez
Chile Matias "HUASOPEEK" Ibañez Hernandez

Brazil Gustavo "yel" Knittel (coach)

Argentina Nicolás "buda" Kramer (benched)
Brazil Gustavo "tge" Motta (benched)
Uruguay Franco "dgt" Garcia (benched)

yeah, 300 years ago, when he was just a rookie with potential you genius....today he's a fucking top 2 of 24' player and a solidifed super star with crazy presence, output and clutch capability.... if people were going to use your logic, dgt's buyout would be 1k which is what 9z payed for him to malvinas gaming back in 19'

nobody said monesy's current buyout is 700K. also, his current buyout is probably irrelevant at this point. absolutely no one is paying this amount out in EU nowadays, ie s1mple. yet, South America lives in a bubble. end of thread. next.

andre akkari should have called 9z already to start conversations.... -chelo is a thing furia has been needing for ages already, and when a player of dgt's caliber enter the market, you just gotta take the shot; ain't no way he performs worse than chelo.

Fallen and chelo are like boyfriends. Fallen praises him 24/7 while not saying a word about word class players on his team - yuurih and kscerato

you are right on the first paragraph, the only reason chelo is there is because fallen told furia to sign chelo when they signed fallen; but yuriih hasn't been world class in a while though, that's another player furia needs to change for someone more consistent; i still feel like the right move back in 24' was -yuriih and -chelo instead of -art
2025-02-13 16:27

furia has kcerato and skullz. 2 passive players, why would they buy another passive player? -chelo should be the move, but they need an agressive player to fill that void

Unfortunately little people have read how the CEO himself has behaved with local sources, he should be the one submitting an apology. Things aside, I don't see how 9z could replace dgt anytime soon. Maybe the main objective should be the signing of Tomaszin...

dgt was such a good player in 9z, he made a great effort for 5 years, supporting the team in the good and bad ones, but everything is not forever, it has an ending, and this is what happened today. Good luck for dgt on his career, I will support him, no matter on which team he will be playing in...

terrible for 9z but i guess it's deserved, you can't take that much time to make a change to be competitive in T1 and players want to succced. The best to dgt, i hope he goes to Furia or Pain.

They will go on, at least for now, they have a huge fanbase and a lot of money behind them. But considering how things went out lately and how valve is destroying tier 2 scene, it wouldn't surprise me they consider exiting cs, sadly...
