PGL Bucharest 2025 Europe Closed Qualifier teams set

The tournament's European qualifier has been whittled down to 32 teams with only one spot on the line.

BIG are the highest seed in the European qualifier

The PGL Bucharest 2025 Europe Closed Qualifier teams are now set, with eight teams having made it through the open qualifiers and 24 teams directly invited to the final stage of the qualifier.

The 32 teams will be drawn to four double-elimination best-of-three groups, after which the four winners will face off in a single-elimination best-of-three playoff with a best-of-five grand final for the single spot in Bucharest up for grabs.

The qualifier will take place online on February 28-March 8, giving the winner an invite to the $1,250,000 PGL Bucharest 2025, which will take place at the PGL Studios in the Romanian capital on April 5-13.

Out of the 32 teams, eight made it through the four open qualifiers: Ninjas in Pyjamas and Rebels through the first one, OG and Leo through the second, CYBERSHOKE and BASEMENT BOYS through the third, and ARCRED and Roler Coaster — a mix team featuring the likes of Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy and Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov — made it through the fourth and final qualifer.

The likes of BIG, BetBoom, 500, fnatic, ENCE, Passion UA, Partizan, ECLOT and 9 Pandas were among the highest-ranked teams invited in the VRS ranking, while Spirit Academy and NAVI Junior taking part could indicate that they main teams have or will decline main event invites.

Other notable teams in the stacked qualifier include Monte, Sashi, Metizport, and SINNERS, along with a group of outside contenders rounding out the 32-team stage.

that is definetly true but this is based on ranking and they were ranked very much higher than ESC at the time so i guess they rejected the invite which is strange lmao

They are probably direct invite because of other teams boycotting. I guess Spirit Academy in qualifiers means Spirit again declined the invite

Yeah but nexus? The only Romanian roster in the VRS ranking, and actually capable of accepting an invite to one of the biggest events in the home country... i doubt they got a direct invite, BIG were ahead of them in VRS.

because Nexus are trash and they are only that high up in VRS because of IESF, realistically nexus should play in open quals and CCT closed quals maybe CCT groups but that's about it

BIG will win their opening match for sure, but lose against oxygeN online talent. They are also lucky to avoid GTZ and Chimera, two titans for a team like BIG who loves to struggle

They likely didn't anticipate the boycott so they would have all top teams. Instead they have imperial fe direct invite

Teams that are not here: Heroic ( which I guess they focused on epl play-in) Nexus Imperial Valkyries Nemiga B8 Bc.game ( with the core of unpaid- ex bleed) So why have those teams declined on a possibility of a very big event in terms of prizepool too?

Invites are based on ranking from 3rd February. BC.game were 68th at that time. Heroic, Saw and Nemiga play at EPL Play-in, imperial Valkyries wont play so they dont lose more points, unless it is LAN to collect easy prize money for last place. And who knows about B8 and Nexus. If I had to guess Nexus are skipping for same reason as Imperial Valkyries, so they dont lose points.

This is a fucking joke. Shit ton of BO3 matches and a BO5 final for just one spot to a tier2 event? You need less games than this to win a major.

level may be tier 2 field but the prize pool and VRS is higher than any other tournament beside major ... loads of points to grab and skipping this PGL events may have big consequences in VRS ranking for second major .

So, If Navi Junior and Spirit Academy are here... Does it mean that the main teams have already declined the invite for the main tournament? 🤔

I think they had since both are attending EPL and BLAST Open, and those teams seem to like having a break after each pair of events they play. But anyway, playing officials of this level against good opposition is good for academies, they can still forfeit the spot if they win.

they probably declined the invite , why ?! because its ranked tournament and they know they have zero chances and considering the field they are more likely to lose points than win ... cause if they get a match against team from 140th place and they would 100% lose it then they would drop big time in ranking ... same as Nexus , they try to keep their spot in ranking to farm more money with direct invites for small tournaments

Every team that declined the invite to Bucharest Closed Qualifier in EU: Heroic Nexus Imperial FE SAW Nemiga B8 BC.Game (unpaid roster) Heroic, SAW, and Nemiga make sense, they are in EPL. but why did the others decline?
