FISSURE unveils 2025 prize pool distribution

The prize money for FISSURE tournaments will be split, with part going to the players and part to the organizations.

FISSURE is the organizer behind BetBoom Dacha events

FISSURE has announced the prize distribution for their 2025 tournaments, FISSURE Playground 1 and 2, which are to be held in Belgrade, Serbia from July 15-20 and September 9-21 respectively.

The most notable part of the announcement is that the prize distribution is split into two sections; an amount going to the players, and an amount going to the organizations directly, both based on the team's placement in the event. For both tournaments, the total share going to the organizations is larger than the share going to the players.

FISSURE Playground 1 will see $450,000 paid out to the players, with $550,000 going to organizations, whilst FISSURE Playground 2 will pay out $500,000 to the players and $750,000 to organizations.

Strike #2: The big orgs won the battle of attrition, but the war is far from over

The announcement comes in the midst of tournament organizers adjusting their pay-outs to better support team organizations in the wake of the Valve-enforced changes to the pro circuit, which came into affect for 2025. To learn more about the issue, read HLTV Editor-in-chief Milan "Striker" Švejda's recent column.

A fissure is a long, narrow crack opening along the surface of Earth. The term is derived from the Latin word fissura, which means 'cleft' or 'crack'. Fissures emerge in Earth's crust, on ice sheets and glaciers, and on volcanoes.

Valve needs to be clear what's going to VRS or not, club's share shouldn't be announced as prize money.

Wasn't club share always a thing but it didn't have to be public information before?

Not really, players got most of the money and now they get less than 50%. It's a huge change as how CS always worked, prizemoney was always for players.

I see, hopefully Gabe steps in and says no to orgs then because if that's the case then it's basically franchising 2.0

It is clear, it counts towards VRS if it's money for placement in said tournament. What doesn't counts is revenue shares and similar stuff. Imo it makes sense, as you said, historicaly it went to players, but now players get huge salaries too. In football it's clubs who gets prize money, not players.

That's exactly why it doesn't make sense, contracts were made on an unsustainable model of sticker and partnership revenue. You don't need to feed that system, you're just building a bubble that'll eventually pop at some point. Force teams to fix their finances, boycotting organizers for money like they did with PGL it's not a solution.

How should they fix their finances if they barely make any money? Only reason why orgs like GL or ITB are able to operate is the unsustainable model of sticker revenue. Things like club share can help to run sustainably. If we would continue like in the past, only orgs that are willing to burn cash would be able to operate in T1. So giving team shares is for sure better than waiting several years until a bobble will pop and teams would be able to make such contracts with players that would allow them to actually make a profit.
