The new-look squad have claimed yet another scalp after besting HEROIC on day one.
SAW have secured a 2-0 record in the first Swiss group stage of ESL Pro League Season 21 after besting FURIA 2-1. This victory follows up the international side's impressive debut win over HEROIC on day one of the event in Stockholm, Sweden.
After bagging a quarter-final finish at PGL Cluj-Napoca in their last outing, in the team's final event with a fully Portuguese lineup, SAW seem to have not skipped a beat after bringing Oscar "AZUWU" Bell and Jan "cej0t" Dyl into the fold.
SAW now join another unlikely team in the 2-0 pool, as TYLOO also find themselves with an unblemished record after Yi "JamYoung" Yang powered his team to wins over 3DMAX and Eternal Fire.
A dominant Dust2 for FURIA
One of the only bright spots for FURIA in this series was their performance on their own pick of Dust2. The Brazilian squad dominated on the defense, racking up a 9-3 lead with little resistance from SAW before quickly wrapping things up 13-3.
While all five FURIA players contributed to this one-sided win, Felipe "skullz" Medeiros stood out on the map, racking up a 2.09 rating thanks to his 20-5 K/D and 124.5 ADR.
Solid T-sides get SAW over the line
No individual player stood out consistently for SAW in this series; rather, the international contingent made headway on their map wins of Anubis and Inferno with solid offenses.
After a back-and-forth first half on Anubis that soon segued into an 11-7 lead for FURIA, SAW managed to rally in the latter portion of the second half with a streak of six T-side rounds in a row, locking down their pick 13-11.
SAW had more of a lead to work with on Inferno, having put together an 8-4 lead on the defense in the first half. Even when SAW missed out on round wins on the offense, Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes's men kept FURIA in a difficult economic situation, setting up the international side to secure the map 13-9 and the series 2-1.
