Legacy finalize PGL Bucharest list following unbeaten qualifier run

The Brazilian team has qualified for its second international LAN in 2025.

After qualifying for Dallas, Legacy have punched their ticket to Bucharest

Legacy has locked up a spot at PGL Bucharest following an unbeaten run in the South American qualifier. The Brazilian side joins Complexity, Rare Atom and Betclic in qualifying for the $1.25 million event in Romania next month.

Legacy were one of the favorites heading into the qualifier, ranking second in the VRS among the participating teams behind Sharks. Lucas "lux" Meneghini's troops had a few scares throughout the tournament, ultimately finishing first after close series against Flamengo and 9z.

But Legacy's qualifying run was not without controversy. They topped their group after a forfeit win over RED Canids, who could not play the match because of a scheduling conflict with CCT Series 8.

On X, Henrique "HEN1" Teles said Legacy "did not want to reschedule the match" despite every other team agreeing to make adjustments to avoid scheduling issues. In a statement, Legacy argued that they declined invites to other tournaments that would run parallel to the qualifier so they could focus on this event.

Currently ranked 39th in the world in the VRS, Legacy made two roster changes at the start of the year, bringing in lux (as IGL) and Vinicius "n1ssim" Pereira to replace Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato and Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara.

Last month, Legacy qualified for IEM Dallas in May after beating Sharks and Fluxo (twice) in the South American closed qualifier.

there are three, yes three br teams present when in the current event there are zero br teams in the playoffs. this is scandalous and should be thoroughly investigated. there should be max 1 br team in any big event, and even 1 can be too many.

GG deserved, but... I think this just shows why Legacy shouldn't be allowed to play in NA qualifiers. It's a solid SA team, taking away spots from NA teams where it could help develop the region. It's as if the 3rd best Mongolian team moved to Australia and started winning Australian qualifiers, but since it's all under Asia we'll all pretend it's okay.

I'm a bit confused, are you talking about other qualifiers or this one? Cause this one was the SA CQ and Legacy already moved to south america due to lacking practice in NA (or wishes to, dont remember if they moved already)

Other qualifiers, I remember Legacy qualifying to ESL Challenger through NA last year, and I think they played quite a lot more qualifiers there, too I know this one is SA, no issues there

First of all, I agree they shouldn't be allowed to play in NA, it's not good for NA teams and not even good for Legacy anymore in 2025 as they can't improve their game. Just adding here, Legacy is playing only SA qualifiers this year until now, so they're not stealing NA spots anymore like last year. I don't even know if they can play NA qualifiers anymore.

They're forfeiting a lot of games because of the qualifiers, I don't think they will have the chance.

The new Valve rulebook gave a stricter definition of subregions so they won't be able to do that anymore.
