The change would mark an end to TaZ's time as coach.

G2 are looking to secure the services of Álvaro "⁠SunPayus⁠" García and Eetu "⁠sAw⁠" Saha from HEROIC after the BLAST.tv Austin Major, according to a report from Sheep Esports. The deal is "pending Valve and BLAST confirmation," according to the publication.

The Spanish sniper and Finnish coach are said to have "reached a verbal agreement" with the German organization, which spent the first four months of 2025 reeling from the loss of Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač to Falcons and is now tasked with filling the massive void left after Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov followed in the Bosnian's footsteps.

It is an unenviable and near-impossible task to replace the Russian prodigy, one which the organization's CEO told HLTV couldn't be done with "one trade of one player," but SunPayus would at least provide the stability, experience, and a significant portion of firepower to mitigate the loss.

G2 CEO: "m0NESY did not commit to helping us build a roster around him"

The Spaniard, named the sixth-best player of 2023 by HLTV, has averaged a 1.13 rating with HEROIC in 2025, recently led the charge to victory in MESA Nomadic Masters Spring and the team's Europe MRQ run for the Austin Major, and helped secure a title win in CCT Global Finals over B8.

He would move to the team alongside sAw, who helped scout and build two championship-contending rosters for ENCE alongside Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer from November 2020-2023.

The Finn's addition would mark an end to Wiktor "⁠TaZ⁠" Wojtas' maligned tenure as G2's coach that began in December 2023.

The Pole was criticized for being unable to consistently contend for titles with m0NESY and NiKo for much of 2024, and accused by fans and some industry members of being more of a "cheerleader" coach than one who offered tactical help — a perception not helped by several, "out-of-context" listen-in clips shared by tournament organizers on broadcast.

sAw would provide G2 with both tactical help and his scouting ability, the latter of which the organization is in dire need of as it attempts to rebuild.

The pair would not join until after the Austin Major, where G2 will use Olek "⁠hades⁠" Miskiewicz as a stand-in, and could potentially face their future organization with HEROIC also set to attend.

Think they're gonna kick snax and move hunter to IGL, then add another rifler. I'd love for them to grab nilo off the bench from heroic as well, if sAw and SunPayus are going, there is no reason to leave him on a team like that, he should have a shot with a good roster. hunter, sunpayus, heavygod, malbs, nilo, would be a pretty talented group. I would understand if they wanted to bring in a bit more of an experienced player though, instead of another young guy.

First of all, obviously the kyo shout is not instead of Sunpayus, I agree he is a good pickup by g2 as I think he is a very good awper, very good in arena and when it matters most. he has a pretty solid floor and a pretty high ceilings, I will never forget how he was the only awp in 2023 to bully zywoo when ever they faced. 2nd I believe a big shift should happen regarding g2 rifler roles, hunter has to leave or move to anchor, heavygod should move to star positions in ct side. Kyo should go in instead of either malbs or hunter, g2 should choose who they prefer to be the big site anchor, if they prefer malbs then heavygod to lurk in t side and star positions in ct are both heavygod and kyo. If they choose Hunter to stay then heavygod to main entry and Hunter to keep the lurker role and kyo as second player/ star in t side

First of all, not every player is the same, so doing a similar change while the players are very different from each other is not gonna yield similar results obviously, it’s a rather weird perception to think that if both played anchor and had similar numbers that they would have similar numbers as star rifler. Now to facts, malbs and heavygod stats are equal, whilst malbs played in a team with Niko star playing and won 3 events, which obviously inflate your stats… if you check malbs events where he lost with g2 he had much lower stats than heavygod is having with a very struggling g2. I mean heavy god brings better stats than both the players playing star positions ffs how is it even a question…. Heavygod had better stats before g2 as a star player than malbs had against better competition in c9. And heavygod mental seems to be 10x times better than malbs.. And you know what, even if he fails and we suffer the same faith as malbs to star positions, what does g2 has to lose? Clearly malbs and hunter aren’t good enough and they have a young player with the reputation of one of the most versatile players in tier 1 why won’t they give him a chance ?

I understand your points and they are very valid so let me rephrase myself. I don’t believe it is a good idea to put heavygod into star positions because 1. He has never played them which is what makes me believe he wont do any better than malbs. I feel like malbs just needs time to adjust to it he has had plenty of time I know but he just needs to get rid of the ”I am niko” mentality and play them his own way. Also if they do put heavygod into star positions putting malbs back into anchor would be a lot better since he did perform well as an anchor

It's really hard for me to believe that magixx actually meant what he said in that interview. To me it just seemed like he was trying to hype him up as a player, possibly to raise interest in potential buyers. I don't think he's necessarily gonna get promoted to the main roster, not because of lack of skill but rather because they already have donk and if I'm not mistaken they play similar roles.

Let's be real, no miracle tactics from sAw are getting a snax led G2 to victory over Falcons, even with Sunpayus in place of hades. It's his eye for rebuilding long term that give them a semblance of hope, something they couldn't do pre-major anyway. I think cadian would be better than snax as well. Snax calls good only on T side but on CT side they are playing like 5 randoms doing what they want. In my opinion they are on the same individual level right not but cadian has the potencial to be better individually than snax, because cadian broke his arm and he is still recovering from it. How the hell would Heroic, a 10x smaller org than G2 have bigger budget than G2? Especially after G2 just did the biggest player sale in history of CS? (I know, Heroic sold their core, but the have only two sponsors, one of them being super small)

G2 is a bigger org 100% but it seems like they just havent really been spending much money on their CS division. Only buyouts that have happened were malbs/heavy after NiKo was already sold. NiKo+m0nesy totaled like 3.5mil compared to Heroic who have sold close to like 10mil worth of players. By signing sAw and Sunpayus I would hope its a change of strategy and they are going to actually spend some real money to sign great players. Maybe I just really overestimated Heroic's capabilities and they did have those rumours about being owned by a betting site as well (1xbet).

On the surface this is a huge W but it all depends on how much control they give over to sAw. If he doesn't get to make the decisions you're taking away sAw's best quality in player scouting which would be a shot to the foot. Also the strats outside the server don't mean much if the guy calling them in game can't find the best time to use them.
