PGL Astana 2025huNter-less G2 fall to MIBR comeback
A competitive TaZ, a top-rated Snax and a 10-2 lead on the decider wasn't enough for G2 to convert their opening match at PGL Astana.
G2 have fallen in their first match of the PGL Astana group stage following a 1-2 loss to MIBR.
Playing in their first match without Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač, who is expected to arrive late due to a visa issue, the European side had to utilize Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas instead and failed to convert a competitive series against the Brazilians.
The loss came despite the coach holding his own throughout the series and a solid performance from the widely criticized Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski, who ended up on top of the board for his team with a 1.24 rating in the series.
The Polish in-game leader led by example in a series-equalizing Ancient victory, where G2 turned a bad start around after giving up a crucial round 9 to a Rafael "saffee" Costa 1v3 clutch.
But even though he continued to perform on the deciding Nuke, G2 could not convert a 10-2 lead after switching over to the T side and let the series slip through their fingers.
On the other side, Breno "brnz4n" Poletto starred in both of MIBR's map wins. On Anubis, he outperformed a competitive Olek "hades" Miskiewicz playing his first match under the G2 banner, and on Nuke he led the way to a recovery with a staggering 20 kills in the 11-1 run on the CT side.
