FaZe lock in final Stage 3 spot over MIBR

A laser-focused FaZe put two failed attempts to qualify behind them in a round five win.

s1mple locked in during Ancient overtime for a 2-0 win

FaZe beat MIBR in a 2-0 series to lock in the final spot in Stage 3 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

In their third attempt at qualification following losses to Legacy and 3DMAX, things looked different from the start as FaZe got off to the series with a statement victory on MIBR's pick, Anubis, spearheaded by a red-hot David "frozen" Čerňanský.

Felipe "insani" Yuji's pistol round triple and 1v2 clutch in the second gunround made MIBR competitive to start, but FaZe's offense quickly kicked in, and a crucial 2v5 from Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and frozen tipped the first half in their favor.

After sides switched, frozen's pistol round triple and another in a 3v3 round 16 retake and FaZe's aggressive posturing all over the map led to a quick closing.

Ancient began as more of the same. Things quickly spiraled out of control for MIBR after losing the pistol to a 1v2 flank from Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and a 4v2 situation in the fourth round to another crisp s1mple triple.

This time, however, MIBR mustered a response late in the first half and turned a 2v4 around in the second pistol to climb back into contention. With a Breno "brnz4n" Poletto 1v3 and another 2v4 turn a few rounds later up against pistols, the Brazilians took charge of Ancient, but they were ultimately unable to close it out after EliGE pulled off a last-second clutch in the final round of regulation.

Once in overtime, s1mple locked in with opening after opening to lead the way to a flawless defensive half, and FaZe converted Håvard "rain" Nygaard's double entry in the first opportunity to close overtime for the 2-0 victory.

Stage 3 teams are set

With FaZe locking in the final spot, Stage 2 has come to a conclusion and Stage 3 is up next, where the rest of the world's elite comes into play.

Nah, more like tier 1.5 at most. They can clearly upset in group stages, but they're not a team you'd expect to hit playoffs

Outside of people who support those teams there's not much reason to watch the domestic BR scene because it's not the top level. If a Brazilian team came along and was in the argument for trophies you'd have a reason why people would want to know what BR CS is.

He's qualified for the stage 3 with all the tier 1 teams there, so yes he's back facing tier 1 opposition. 1.28 rating isnt struggling btw

cmon they almost lost ancient. and you can face tier 1, but win consistently on it, it's a whole different story he did hit some good shots at the end, i give him that tho

Key word "almost". They didn't. S1mple is still new to faze and he's already looking better than most awpers. Faze is obviously not the favorites coming in this major but they have a chance making playoffs and I'm all for it 🔥

Hoping that faze will do better against the T1 teams as they’re much more familiar with the playstyle/ round flow at that level! Also in that mibr game faze were back on their bullshit, so here’s hoping they let the magic/ bs flow :D Gimme some s1mple vs Zywoo in the playoffs as well; spicy whoever wins

but why are you acting like this? flair flag i guess. but the guy has been away for months, barely played competitively for the last what, 2 years? (falcons time doesnt count), is putting his everything to play well (you can see how much he grinds faceit to get back in shape), he really wants to win and prove haters wrong Also, youre acting like mibr is some shit team, they literally beat falcons yday and arent playing terribly, they needed 0.04 sec to win. Even s1mple said hes surprised how much the scene grew and how well everyone is playing, even teams you dont expect to (legacy)

Just because you are in Stage 3 of one tournament, it doesn't make you a tier 1 team. It is close to 5 months since FaZe won against a Tier 1 team.

The team is still lacking cohesiveness, s1mple sometimes turns himself on and off. I hope he stays with Faze, cuz they do put on a crazy show. I would love to see him in Faze after a year together.

s1mple looks insanely sharp on the AWP wow. There were some flashes of prime s1mple on Ancient in OT and that Anubis 2v5, if he can figure out how to have that impact consistently again, he will easily be one of the best players in the world.

Yes agreed but NiKo is called their star player for a reason too... So he steps up when it matters or more like to be a consistent part of the team, 6kills in regulations against mibr is pure Chaos

s1mple's stats are not that stellar, but if you watched the match you would know he hits the shots that he needs to hit in the rounds that they need to win. Niko and Monesy, they lack the mental or whatever it takes for them to perform better instead of choking in the most high stress environment, that is what makes top 1 players.

Yeh and their team feels the pressure of playing with them and the subtle negativity, it’s a big part of why neither of them have won anywhere near as much as they should have with their individual skill. Zywoo has zero toxicity or negativity and has won everything while playing with apex..

GG from FaZe. This MIBR side might look worse on paper but that still takes some effort to beat them when they just eliminated Falcons one of the favourites for the major beforehand Shows FaZe might actually be able to get far this major

S1mple will get back to his best, the longer they stay in the tournament the better he will get, competing at this level takes time to get back into, remembering all the little tricks. Although I highly doubt faze will win this/any tournament with frozen on their team, he doesn’t know how to play to win, only how to play for himself. He reminds me of blameF, always doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.
