Visualized: All 24 teams at the Shanghai Major

We've done this for a few Majors now, but here's a refresher. If you want to skip straight to the graphics, feel free.

First things first, the number in the top right is the team's HLTV Power Ranking based on the writers' subjective placement of all 32 teams at the Major.

Then we move on to players, and we have added a role color, their positions on CT and T side, and how many times they have been to a Major. They're ordered left-to-right by Majors attended and then their HLTV database ID, just like they are on team pages.

Like in All-Star articles, Green is for AWPers, Purple for Closers, Orange for Openers, Yellow for Anchors or Supports, and Blue is in-game leaders. In case there are AWPing IGLs, AWPers remain Green (just spot the IGL 'crown' underneath) with Blue reserved for the rifler in 'traditional' roaming IGL roles.

Then we have their five latest (or most notable) event results. After, it's a rolling HLTV Ranking (using points, not ranking) since January 2025 to see the trend in a team's season. Circles with their world ranking have been added with their latest placing at the end.

Map pool is next, but using data up to May 27. It's sorted by total wins to give you an idea not only of a team's win-rate, but how often they play there too.

Introducing HLTV attributes

Our graphics are finished off by three scatterplots, using HLTV Attributes. Rather than a 0-100 scale, the graphs are plotted based on the team's minimum and maximums to show you what a player's role is within their own squad's structure.

First is Firepower plotted against Utility. Firepower is a metric that uses players' raw statistical output in kills, damage, and multi-kills. Utility favors players who provide high quantities of flashbangs (thrown and assists) and grenade damage. Combined, we can see which players can focus on their crosshair, and which are tasked with grenadier duties.

Next, a proxy for how aggressive a player is: Opening vs Clutching. As it says on the tin, Opening concerns opening duels, the all-important first fights of a round. Clutching is also self-explanatory. When they're together, you can see if a player is predominantly early-round (bottom right), late-round (top left), mid-round (bottom left), or does it all (top right).

Entrying vs Trading is similar to our aggression chart, but is designed to show which players are most likely to sacrifice themselves going into a bomb-site or risky retake first. Players in the bottom right of the chart are the team's most likely entry fraggers, who get traded far more than they are trading. The top left is the baiters.

Put together, we hope you learn something new about each of the 16 teams about to grace our screens.

The year is 2057, CS2 is played by less than 100 people. NiKo and Falcons have finally won the BLAST Luton Major grand final in front of 9 people behind a Tesco, “I did it!” NiKo yells excitedly. The sound echoes through the empty parking lot. m0NESY and the fans left long ago...

This is amazing, it really is insightful, some of the scatterplots confirms the eyetest, for example on spirit everyone sets up donk, this is evident by the star vs support plot. or the mongolz plot where everyone is in the loner section, i.e predominantly in midround, this checks out. some things are a bit unexpected, i expected aurora to have more pack players, and i didnt expect liquid to have 4 players in 1st and 4th quadrant becuase they were suffering from having lack of proper aggression, i suppose siuhy fixed that.

This is a good analysis styled breakdown for teams, HLTV should incorprorate the same onto match pages as well, a good stat screen to have.

"the writers' subjective placement" oh, lol so the ranking is useless instead of using hltv ranking

Very cool short form content. Images speak more than a thousand words. A lot of times i saw yekindar as a super aggressive lurker/solo on liquid and him forcing unwinable fights looked like he was in league terms just running it down mid lol especially i saw it happen on inferno banana xd it stuck in my mind that he is like this raging mm teammate peeking mirage with deagle every round and dying to awp xD Glad he is in the pack now where he should be with his style of play. Maybe i got the wrojg impression from his liquid time or remember it wrong but if u had twist naf and jks who all can lurk you should be the pack player and let the better lurkers do their thing
