biguzera renews paiN deal

The 28-year-old has committed his future to the organization that has housed him since 2019.

Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt has extended his paiN contract, the team have announced.

paiN have been contacted by HLTV in a request for further detail about the new contract but did not reply before the time of publication.

The news comes after paiN secured a Major playoff berth for the first time in Austin, after just missing out in Copenhagen (9-11th) and Shanghai (12-14th).

biguzera joined paiN in 2019, taking over the captaincy in 2023, and has overseen consistent placements in the top 20 of the world ranking.

The highly rated in-game leader has been linked with a move away, particularly to regional heavyweights FURIA as fans dream up various Brazilian superteams.

But biguzera has consistently shut down that talk — and has done so again by signing a new deal. That message was reiterated by paiN's announcement, which began with the word 'relaxô.'

biguzera on making Major playoffs: "I'm just wondering if it's a dream or not"

"Of course some day I want to play with these guys, FalleN, KSCERATO, these good players from Brazil," biguzera said in January. "But at the same time, I just want to grow with the team. If I see someone that's playing with me, growing and becoming a new star player, I will be very happy for him. It's a different happiness."

On paiN, he said "I just like the mood, the people that are here working with me, and I just like to be here."

paiN celebrate making Austin's quarter-finals

While FURIA have been the big dogs over the last six years of Brazilian Counter-Strike, paiN Gaming are heavyweights themselves, particularly in other esports like League of Legends.

With the team's star rising over the last few years and another biguzera renewal in tow, paiN's battle to become South America's hegemon will continue.

They are still:

Brazil Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt
Chile David "dav1deuS" Tapia Maldonado

Nah, paiN would have offered as well. No other BR IGL could replace him right now.

paiN will be the best South-American team next season. Unless molodoy becomes the next m0NESY or something.

So far molodoy looks to become the next m0nesy tho, so I think we will have nice competition in the SA :D

Every promising AWPer looks like m0NESY for their first few months in tier 1. Only the best of the best can maintain that level of output after they get "figured out" once.

who are we talking about? i don't think there has been any "true" promising looking awper since m0nesy...

ultimate. nqz. w0nderful. hyped. All of these players have had massive upwards trajectories at points in their careers and looked like potential future top 3 AWPers. Then they fell back down to Earth. There are other names I could name but they'd be slightly copium.

none of those were even close to "next m0nesy" promising looking....we gotta get real here. They are all "good" awpers with potential that just got overhyped but were never even close. nqz got hyped as "the next fallen", "the best brazilian awper" and stuff like that just because brazil hasn't been able to produce an actual tier 1 awper since fallen, and yes he's good, and he's been having a great year in 25' but never m0nesy awper lvl conversation. ultimate got hyped because it was a liquid's finding that 90% of the community didn't know and was good enough to play on tier 1, that's it. w0nderfull got hyped because he had to replace s1mple and somehow navi managed to win that major, but even in his best moments he wasn't even close to m0nesy lvl awping and this year has been mediocre at best.....one could even argue he isn't even top 10 tier 1 awpers 25'. I don't even know what hyped is doing on that list honestly.... but yeah, that's the general idea, all hype but never any true substance to bring into the conversation from any of those.

Re-read the thread from the start. You're making my point for me.

you are not making any point, you are mistaking "potential to be a pro player" with "raw talent to surpass greatness", all those awpers you mentioned showed they had enough to play on tier-1 but none showed they had the actual talent to be discussed among the greatest, to break the notion of logic inside the server, etc. I mean, at some point last year they were all overhyped as fuck by the , and even then none was discussed on the same table as the actual top 3 (s1mple, zywoo, m0nesy).
