BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025paiN grind out Inferno overtime decider to win Brazilian derby
biguzera and company came back from 0-6 down and withstood a resilient FURIA on the last map to secure a spot in the BLAST.tv Austin Major semi-finals.
paiN are through to the BLAST.tv Austin Major semi-finals after coming out on top of the Brazilian derby against FURIA in a nail-biting 2-1 series.
That came down to overtime on an Inferno decider, where paiN recovered a 0-6 deficit and eventually withstood a FURIA comeback from four match points down off of massive impact from AWPer Lucas "nqz" Soares.
After eliminating their compatriots, Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt's squad now has a day off to prepare for their upcoming semi-final on Saturday, where they will face off against the winner of FaZe vs. The MongolZ.

After embracing the pressure of the arena in FURIA's impressive debut at PGL Astana, Danil "molodoy" Golubenko looked right at home once again on the Austin stage, at least at first.
On Nuke, his assertive AWPing helped FURIA convert two crucial rounds early in the first half, and he ended up on top of the board in the team's convincing victory, comfortable on the sniper and rifle.
But after the dominant first map, the pressure seemed to be finally getting to the AWPer on Anubis, where he went 4-16 as paiN equalized the series.
That was on the back of a David "dav1deuS" Tapia Maldonado clutching masterclass, which saw the Chilean win two 1v3s, a 1v2 and a 1v1 in a span of 10 rounds to ensure a 9-3 Terrorist half on the second map and enough of a cushion to withstand a brief FURIA resurgence on the second half.
It all came down to a crazy Inferno decider. FURIA seemed to have everything under control when they went up 6-0 with Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis dominating banana, but nqz stepped up to the plate with three multi-kill rounds to recover the first half and give his team a chance.
dav1deuS then briefly took over in a recovery from a rough start to the map as paiN went on a seven-round run on the CT side to secure four match points. That wasn't enough to close out the match, as despite a YEKINDAR disappearance act FURIA fought to bring the game to overtime, but paiN swept the extra rounds 4-0 with nqz finding even more impact.
"I'm speechless. The way Inferno started for us, I thought everything was gonna go wrong," nqz said on the broadcast after the match.
"I can't believe it yet. I'm really happy, but we're gonna take it one day at a time. Of course I want to make it to the grand final, but I'm not gonna think about it too much because we still have the semi-final to play."
