Wildcard and Rare Atom bow out of FISSURE

FURIA and 3DMAX live on after their rusty start to the new season.

Wildcard's new roster got obliterated by FURIA on day two

Wildcard and Rare Atom are the first two teams eliminated from FISSURE Playground 1 after suffering two consecutive losses in the group stage in Belgrade, Serbia.

The team around Aran "⁠Sonic⁠" Groesbeek, who came into the event fresh off the additions of Sebastian "⁠fr3nd⁠" Kuśmierz and Jaxon "⁠Peeping⁠" Cornwell and the South African's transition to the in-game leader role, were placed in a difficult group featuring two of the biggest tournament favorites and ended up meeting them both.

They didn't have much to write home about in their second series against FURIA, in which they only won five rounds as Danil "⁠molodoy⁠" Golubenko dominated with a 40-8 (2.09 rating) performance, but it was the first against GamerLegion that Wildcard will end up looking back on with regret.

There, they had the chance to take a big scalp, sitting on a series lead after a convincing Inferno victory and an 8-4 advantage heading into the Terrorist side of Ancient. However, they couldn't convert the opportunity due to a fruitless offense and came up short on the Dust2 decider.

Rare Atom also debuted a new lineup at the Serbian event after having just brought in Aojie "⁠Trash⁠" Tian to replace HaoWen "⁠somebody⁠" Xu.

The Chinese side got outclassed on three out of the four maps they played against paiN and 3DMAX, but they too will rue a missed opportunity after failing to convert eight map points against the Frenchmen on Dust2.

Bryan "⁠Maka⁠" Canda and company came into the seasonal opener looking worryingly rusty, being outclassed by Lynn Vision and starting the second series down 7-12 on Dust2 against the other Chinese team in Group B, but a comeback on the first map inspired a return to form in a 13-1 sweep on Ancient.
