Community reacts: s1mple joins BC.Game

The legendary Ukrainian made an unlikely move to a team in the lower reaches of the scene.

Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev and BC.Game shocked the world on Monday by announcing that the three-time HLTV Player of the Year will take over AWPing on the roster with immediate effect.

The move ended the Ukrainian's near two-year stint on the bench that was briefly interrupted by stand-in stints at Falcons and FaZe, and gave a clear indication that he is ready to grind for a return to the top.

BC.Game are currently ranked No. 67 in the VRS and were thus a shocking destination for s1mple, something mirrored in the community's surprised reaction straight after the announcement.

Some people, including s1mple himself, joked about the move down the food chain, with his new IGL Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković also joining in the fun.

Another player who needed to make a joke at his own expense was Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson, as he has now been benched for both Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz and s1mple throughout his career.

On the other hand, several community figures wondered why this was the move s1mple chose and what it means for the prospects of seeing the Ukrainian at the top of the game once again.

One of the people excited about the grind s1mple is about to embark on was his ex-coach Andrey "⁠B1ad3⁠" Gorodenskiy, who advised the AWPer to take a step down to the online scene last year.
