FaZe roll over BetBoom to close day one of BLAST Bounty S2

All of the higher-seeded teams picked up wins to open BLAST Bounty, despite some close shaves.

Day one of BLAST Bounty Season 2 went off without a hitch for the favorites, as not a single bounty was claimed by a lower-seeded team.

Despite hard-fought matches, B8, Liquid and G2 survived challenges by FUT, ECSTATIC and Nemiga respectively, before FaZe closed the day by bucking the trend and easing past BetBoom.

The winning teams have progressed to the next round of the online stage, where they will play one more BO3 with a spot in the LAN finals on the line, whilst the losers have been eliminated from contention.

B8 kicked off the day by battling past FUT, who gave a fantastic account of themselves as they take their first steps with their new organization.

FUT pushed B8 all the way to OT on Dust2 only to wane in the extra rounds, before suffering another narrow loss on Mirage, Alexey "⁠alex666⁠" Yarmoshchuk and Andrii "⁠npl⁠" Kukharskyi key in getting B8 over the line.

The next match of the day saw Liquid labour to victory over ECSTATIC, continuing their shaky start to the season.

Liquid survive ECSTATIC scare after quintuple-overtime Train

An absolute slugfest played out on Train, chaotic rounds abounding as Liquid limped over the finish line in quintuple overtime thanks to numerous clutches. Ancient was a more straightforward affair, a strong T side setting Liquid up for success.

G2 also had to battle hard as the favorite, going 1-0 up against Nemiga with a reasonably comfortable win on Ancient before Mirage devolved into a tough fight.

MATYS bags insane 4K in overtime

Despite repeatedly finding advantageous openings, Nemiga often floundered in the face of G2's firepower, with Matúš "⁠MATYS⁠" Šimko in particular coming alive in OT to help G2 seal the deal.

FaZe closed out the day by grabbing a confident 2-0 win over BetBoom, Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski and Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard firing on all cylinders to put the Russians to the sword.

rain led the way on Mirage to help his team get to a comfortable 12-6 lead, which FaZe eventually converted after a cosmetic BetBoom comeback. Ancient was the EliGE show, the American producing a 2.06 rating to guide FaZe to a quick victory.

There are plenty more matches to be played in the opening round of BLAST Bounty Season 2, and play continues tomorrow with another four BO3s, with Cologne winners Spirit one of the teams up to bat.
