jcobbb makes the jump to tier 1 with FaZe

FaZe has announced the signing of 21-year-old Polish up-and-comer Jakub "⁠jcobbb⁠" Pietruszewski from Betclic as the team struggles to find its footing since returning from the summer break with three early exits at IEM Cologne, BLAST Bounty Season 2, and EWC.

jcobbb comes in to replace Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski, who was signed at the beginning of the year but never quite sparked a fire and will keep the aggressive element in the team balanced.

FaZe bench EliGE

jcobbb, whose first HLTV matches date to mid-2022 with yologang420, moved to 9INE in November 2023, when he got his first taste of playing teams like BIG, FORZE, and BetBoom.

One year later, in November 2024, jcobbb moved to Betclic, where he has been testing his mettle in the tier-two scene. Boasting plenty of firepower and an explosive game, the 21-year-old didn't go unnoticed while posting a 1.13 Rating. Betclic is also the team that Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's wife, Anja Suder, is the sports psychologist for.

"I gave an interview while signing this [betclic] roster saying that jcobbb shoots as hard as Twistzz or NiKo," jcobbb's coach in Betclic, Jędrzej "⁠Bogdan⁠" Rokita, said of his player. "When I saw him in practice, and that was practice, of course, but when I saw him shooting in practice, it was incredible. Insane. Like, I haven't seen anything like that."

jcobbb's first taste of top tier play came at PGL Bucharest, where Betclic upset Astralis and The MongolZ in the Swiss group stage, and where they also lost to FURIA, Aurora, and FaZe.

Ironically, jcobbb was at the bottom of the scoreboard in the loss against FaZe and also suffered against FURIA and Aurora, ending the event with a 0.97 Rating, but was a positive contributor with 1.25 and 1.23 Ratings in the two victories.

As FaZe announced on X, it's time for a new era, as the newcomer will also bring down the team's average age, which was the highest in the top ten by over a year at 28.4.

His comms, playstyle, and energy in the server fits better on an NA team - the Faze move was never goin to work out, as I had said back in Jan when the move happened. These up-and-coming young dudes like jcobbb grinding CS2 is what Faze needs. Forget perfecto, elige, and the old guard. EliGE 1.27 rating on T side for the last 3 months. he’s the only reason why FaZe has a somewhat passable T side. -rain first and then eventually -karrigan is the smarter move. get rid of rain and pick up a young anchor in zont1x. zont1x is basically a top 5 anchor currently, he’ll be a massive upgrade over rain.

No no it will work out better than with elige -- I'm not saying they will win the budapest major (that's falcons)-- but they will win a SIGNIFICANT tournament with jcobb in the next 8 months or so. the scene is extremely competitive nowadays, extremely. Down the road, yes I think they have a better chance of beating g2 with jcobbb than with elige. They won't win back-to-back majors, but they can win a significant tournament, like fissure2 or pgl bucharest, like I said. Asking for -karrigan -rain -broky is asking for faze to drop out of cs. Disagree - these are the old guard... twistzz, s1mple, etc.... they are legends, fun to watch still, and still competitive. But if you want to truly contend for big titles against Vitality and Mongolz and Spirit you need to invest into long-term robot talents that only played PRIMARILY cs2 and know the game better. spirit can only get better with tn1r, they are goin to be even stronger. --Molody being a great fit for furia now is easy to say. But at the time when furia signed molodoy, you thought they were stupid. --magixx is a good player, but zweih allows spirit to get to the next level. You saw how they instantly got better and won cologne and blast back to back. improves the whole team, and brought isntant empirical results with 2 trophies -- Mongolz I wanted to say that they signed senzu and mzinho, 2 relative unknowns when they were first signed. -- With Navi, rather than signing a known name, they signed Makhazze, and you saw how good he was on stage in cologne in his first stage match in his life. --- so the overall point is: do not sign Twistzz and s1mple and skullz, the names the community is familiar with. Sign molody, senzu, makhazze, tn1r, and jcobb, if you want to contend for titles and stay relevant.

I m totally unaware about MongolZ…like I thought they always had this roster…. Furia as I said Molody was great fit …. Yes I thought they were stupid but not because they signed molody but because they decided to keep fallen. Now other rosters spirit navi are not you know irrelevant teams who can’t win anything ….
