MIBR issue kl1m disciplinary sanction over "unacceptable" remark

The Brazilian side said it would not tolerate recurring behavior after kl1m called a Chilean player a "monkey" in a FACEIT match.

MIBR have released a statement in response to one of their newest players, Klimentii "⁠kl1m⁠" Krivosheev, calling a teammate a "monkey" in a South American FACEIT match.

The organization took a stance against the Russian player's usage of the word, which often carries a racist connotation in the region, saying they "repudiate any form of prejudice, be it racism, xenophobia, or discrimination of any kind."

MIBR called it "unacceptable" despite kl1m's claims that the term "may have a different connotation" in his culture, and went on to announce that the 19-year-old would face internal disciplinary sanctions.

That includes his immediate placing into "a racial and cultural literacy program focused on Brazil's history and social challenges," according to the statement. "Recurrence will not be tolerated," it went on.

The player himself has apologized for the offense on X and stressed there was "no racist intent" behind it, vowing to commit to educating himself about Brazilian culture.

kl1m joined MIBR on a loan from G2 Ares two weeks ago as part of the Brazilian team's transition to an international roster, which was followed by the addition of Aleksei "⁠Qikert⁠" Golubev in another loan deal from PARIVISION.

The Russian AWPer is about to make his second appearance for the team in an ESL Challenger League match against Keyd Stars, scheduled for Thursday at 23:00 .

MOST European countries isn’t EVERY. And still doesn’t change the fact that words can mean different things depending on countries.
