FURIA win FISSURE Playground 2, ending long wait for Big Event trophy
Eight years after entering the game, the Brazilian organization finally has a Big Event title.

FURIA won FISSURE Playground 2 on Sunday with a 3-2 victory over The MongolZ at the Belgrade Arena in a hectic drawn-out series that lasted almost six hours.
It is the first-ever Big Event trophy for the Brazilian team after 38 attempts. The only other time it had been in the final of a Big Event had been at the ECS Season 7 Finals in London, back in 2019.
"KSCERATO and I have been trying for years," an emotional Yuri "yuurih" Santos, who has been with FURIA since December 2017, said after the match. "And being here, winning a tournament... I have no words."
The victory over the VRS No.1 capped off FURIA's incredible tournament run in Belgrade, which also included wins over BLAST Open London champions G2 and the hometown favorites, Falcons.

The title win marks another chapter in a huge turnaround in fortunes for FURIA, who made the shocking decision to go international just five months ago. The two players who came in, Danil "molodoy" Golubenko and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, were the driving forces behind FURIA's hard-fought win against The MongolZ in a marathon of a series that had four close maps, two of which went to overtime.
The Kazakh AWPer ended the tournament with a team-high 1.19 rating to pick up his first MVP medal.

The MongolZ got off to a flying start on their pick of Mirage, cruising to an 8-3 lead on the T side after keeping their opponents from stringing rounds together. FURIA then picked up a much-needed final round on a low buy to keep the scoreline competitive and followed it up with the ensuing pistol.
The game quickly got away from The MongolZ, who saw their opponents reach map point at 12-10. Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch still rescued his team with back-to-back quad-kills to take the game to overtime, but there was no stopping FURIA: molodoy and YEKINDAR wreaked havoc in extra rounds with a combined 15 frags to get the Brazilian outfit over the line.
FURIA did not let up and raced to a commanding 8-4 lead on the T side of Inferno, with molodoy once again at the heart of the action with four multi-kills and a +14% round swing.
And then Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold took over the game. The 19-year-old breathed new life into his team with a pistol ace and then held off a late comeback attempt from FURIA with a decisive 1v2 in the final round of the half, ending the T side with a 15-7 score, a 137 ADR and a +18% round swing.
The Brazilians quickly shook off the defeat and took control of proceedings from the start of Nuke, where they capitalized on a 6-0 start to secure a commanding 9-3 lead.
Once the game looked like it was out of reach – with FURIA 12-3 ahead –, the Mongolians turned it up. They went on a massive run with several late clutches and individual heroics to take the game to overtime, but it would be for nothing in the end as FURIA enjoyed a flawless 4-0 run, with Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo once again showing his penchant for big plays in crunch time.
The MongolZ came into Overpass with renewed energy and posted an 8-4 lead, with Sodbayar "Techno" Munkhbold leading the charge with four multi-kills and a 119 ADR.
The game entered a scrappy phase in the second half as mistakes became frequent and neither side managed to stamp their authority on proceedings. FURIA still mustered the energy to attempt a late comeback, but a successful B hit with nothing but pistols, followed by a clutch from Ayush "mzinho" Batbold, put The MongolZ back in the driver's seat.
mzinho picked up where where he had left off, firing The MongolZ into the lead on Dust2 with a trio of frags in the pistol round. But FURIA quickly took control of the game and never let go, ending a 7-5 lead and following it up with a flawless CT showing to put the series to bed.
