jackasmo reunites with former Passion UA teammates jambo and fear.

fnatic have announced that Nikita "⁠jackasmo⁠" Skyba has joined the team on loan until the end of the season, and that he will step into the starting roster in place of Cai "⁠CYPHER⁠" Watson for the duration of CS Asia Championships.

The news comes after jackasmo stood in for Freddy "⁠KRIMZ⁠" Johansson during fnatic's winning campaign at Fragadelphia Blocktober, which qualified the team for StarLadder Budapest Major.

But does he only get the sticker money? In the valve rulebook it says: 'registered rosters must be intact' and 'registered rosters must match the invited rosters.' That suggests that they would play with CYPHER at the major as jackasmo only played 4 matches with the team before the invite cut-off. But honestly I'm not 100% sure because HLTV shows fnatic at the major as having jackasmo but it could be that the teams shown are not the invited rosters but the current ones. Also I'm now confused about substitutes because surely if fnatic just fabricate a reason why CYPHER can't play they will be punished? Actually @Striker could you clarify this? (Pretty please)

The lineup that appears on the October 6 ranking is considered the invited one, so including CYPHER. However, teams can also add a substitute, which is what I assume fnatic will do here, and then just play with jackasmo instead of CYPHER. So CYPHER will be considered a part of the core roster and so he'll get the sticker, but they don't actually have to play any matches with him if they just use the sub instead.

For all the people who think CYPHER was in "bad roles" take a look at NER0's position database. From that, you can see that CYPHER both doesn't have the worst roles on his team and is also the non-IGL who is doing worst compared to his expected rating. To be fair, I saw some games of Fnatic and Cypher pretty much always had good buys. He wasn't magixx or anything lol. Fear did sacrifice his buys for Blamef, Jackasmo and the rest when needed.

I think getting tier 1 experience with a roster closer to the final product is a good idea. If rumors are true fnatic are also interested in Dawy, who I imagine is the KRIMZ replacement post-major. CYPHER has a tendency to do dumb shit and throw rounds which jack generally does less of, although still a bit. But jack also has more room for upside. I think it makes sense to let jack play these tournaments and get more experience to see what they have in him. We know what CYPHER is, and it's not very good.
