lux: "We need to pressure ourselves to be better, but we don't need to be hard on our teammates"

Legacy's captain believes that cultivating "good vibes" has been the secret to the team's success in Shanghai.

Legacy have been on an impressive run at the CS Asia Championships 2025 in Shanghai, marching past Virtus.pro and 3DMAX to secure a playoff berth and almost securing direct entry into the semi-finals before a narrow loss to Liquid.

The Brazilians have kept their run alive after the first day of playoffs at the expense of another underdog, FUT, who had made it to the quarter-finals after netting wins over FaZe and paiN.

Following his team's victory over FUT, Legacy in-game leader Lucas "lux" Meneghini spoke with HLTV regarding his team's struggles in the wake of the BLAST.tv Austin Major and why their fortunes have turned in Shanghai, the hard-fought series against FUT, and the performance of their semi-final opponent's stand-in, Olek "hades" Miskiewicz.

Or you can listen to the interview here.

You're headed to the semi-finals of CAC 2025 after a pretty intense series; how are you feeling?

Really happy, because it's been a tough year for us, a tough semester actually. We've had some ups and downs, and being in a playoff, in a semi-final, in my first year as IGL is really, really good.

You had such a huge high at the Austin Major but have struggled to replicate that. Why do you think you have had such trouble with that?

I think we entered into some bad vibes. After that good result, we started to pressure [ourselves] more, feeling that we couldn't make some mistakes. Then, we weren't being so good as teammates. We started pressuring ourselves, entering these bad vibes, bad moods. Now, we're trying to restart our team, our goals, and I think that's working.

So that's something you've been consciously working on for this event?

Yeah, we are trying to get good vibes, no reviews in the game, just good ones. But not like, 'come on man, what are you doing,' tilts, something like that, just good vibes.

You've got Bucharest after this; things have been going so well here, so it sounds like the lesson to take to Bucharest is avoiding pressure after these good results?

Yeah, I think this is how we need to work. We need to pressure ourselves to be better, of course, but we don't need to be hard on our teammates. Everybody wants to win, but sometimes you're just trying to be right in the discussion, you're not trying to win, you're just trying to be right, and we enter into this loop. So now we are just focused on this, focused on evolution, focused on unity.

As you said, after this event we have Bucharest, and after that we are going home for one week, something like that, because we have been away from home for three months, so it's going to be a great moment for us to reset even more for the Major.

Is there going to be a bootcamp in Europe between your time in Brazil and the Major?

Yeah. We are in Stage 1, so we have less time to bootcamp, less time to stay at home. It wasn't a good result for us, being in Stage 1, so we need to face it and we need to keep working. It's the end of the semester, but we can't let the ball go away. In Brazil, [we have a phrase that means not concluding a task]. It's all good, we're finishing the thing we're doing, and then, in the last moment, you drop it.

Legacy are looking forward to time at home before their last outing of the season at the Major

Coming back to this event, and that FUT series in particular, I'm wondering about Mirage. You beat VP and Liquid on that map in the group stage, but FUT gave you trouble. What did they do differently that caused problems?

We had a great gameplan, but we kinda fumbled that 5v2, and I think that entered into our mind, it was inevitable. After that, we got snowballed in the economy. On the T-side, I think we just needed one round, you know? But I think they got in our minds, and we couldn't do anything to come back into the game.

On Inferno, you built up this seven-round streak, but the game slipped away and went into overtime before you won. How did you rally back into that map?

I think on Inferno, we used all the pauses we had, because we weren't holding B on CT. We kind of had a gameplan to play more 3 A and 2 B, and then we were fumbling on B and we had to create something new. We had to [throw] the gameplan away and create something new, and that worked.

You are in the playoffs and on stage, which you haven't gotten to do very often. But, today there was no crowd. Did it feel any different than just playing in the group stage?

I think it felt different, because the arena is beautiful, and you could see the opponents. It was really far away, we could not screencheat each other, but we could see them. I think it was good to play one day before with no crowd, so you go there and see the things, have a visualization before the game. because you've already played in the arena. But of course, we love to play in an arena. It's our dream, everybody is dreaming to play with a whole crowd.

Tomorrow you'll be playing in front of a crowd against HEROIC, who have been playing quite well with their stand-in. What do you think about the matchup?

Come on man, the stand-in is dropping... I don't know how [he's doing] these stats but he's top one at the event. He's playing really well, and [is like] the most complete, because he's playing on all the teams. I think he's competed on a lot of teams right now, I always see his name...

He was at the Major with G2 as a stand-in...

G2, Inner Circle, 9INE, I don't know if he was playing on 9INE, but he got a lot of experience, and he's playing really well. We faced [HEROIC] a month ago, and we won. I think they are having a similar semester as us; they haven't done anything like us in this semester, and now they're having a good run in this tournament, so I think it will be a close game.

Let's say you beat HEROIC. On the other side of the bracket are 3DMAX and Liquid. You've beat 3DMAX and played Liquid very close. Do you think you'll be able to keep it up against them in a BO5 grand final?

Teams like HEROIC and Liquid, they are new teams, Liquid with EliGE playing in star player positions, and HEROIC with the new guy. A best-of-five will be better for us. 3DMAX has more experience, I think it will be more difficult in this side, but every team is playing really well, so we need to focus on each map and each match.

I agree but at the same time he is a “younger” awper and I think more tier 1.5 experience will help him develop his game. Nissim was playing so bad for a while but is starting to find his groove (but he also had more experience than him). But before this team and year saadzin has only played on W7 who was a tier 3 Brazil only org. I would say at least another year to find his way
