ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals attendees set

Imperial Valkyries will be looking for yet another title after the reigning champs FURIA fe failed to qualify.

The regional online group stages for ESL Impact League Season 8 have drawn to a close. With that, the eight participants for the last-ever installment of the Impact League finals have been determined.

ESL to suspend Impact circuit

Most notably, FURIA fe, who took the title during the previous season of the ESL Impact League Finals in Dallas, Texas, have missed out on qualification this time around. Locked into a three-way tie with 6-1 records with MIBR fe and Atrix in the South American group stage, Izabella "izaa" Galle's troops missed out on the LAN cutoff due to their map differential against their two opponents.

FURIA fe win ESL Impact Season 7 Finals

With FURIA fe out of the picture, Imperial Valkyries, whose core have claimed the other six Impact titles so far, will look to conclude ESL Impact with a seventh trophy. Joining Imperial Valkyries from the European group stage are Overpeek, BIG EQUIPA, and NIP Impact, with the latter two squads directly qualifying after notching unblemished 5-0 runs through the group stage.

Rounding out the team list are Shimmer, the runners-up from Season 7's LAN final, and FlyQuest RED, who made their way through the North American group stage with 6-1 and 7-0 records, respectively.

The eight teams confirmed for the ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals are:

These teams will have just over a month to prepare for this outing, with the LAN finals set to run from November 28–30.

Why does the author frame it as if Imperial are the favourites to win? They get the sub-title dedicated to them and then half a paragraph, whilst BIG and NiP get a single sentence combined...

Yeah, the whole articule gives me the vibe that the author just opened the results for 5 minutes, pasted some stats and slapped Imperial on the cover because they are recognizable.

it's just that the author does not know what they are writing > Imperial Valkyries will be looking for yet another title after the reigning champs FURIA fe failed to qualify. of course all teams are looking to claim the trophy, not just imperial and despite that they were the champions of the first 6 seasons, they are not the most favored to win in this season. it's just unprofessional to write the news this way, considering that this is a piece of news that introduces what is happening in the women's scene to the broader audience

The writer of this article is probably a stringer, so there is no need to expect a high-quality work. If a journalist paid to follow the Impact League wrote this, It made sense to blame him/her for this s***, but the truth is HLTV is not know to have a high-level coverage of the female scene. Besides the match coverage, only two articles have been written, this one we're talking about, and this one (hltv.org/news/42641/esl-impact-leagues-e..). They also put a "Short" post when ImpV lost to Overpeek, and that's it. Yet, I agree the female scene deserves better than that.

It was to a degree out of their control. During their match with Atrix Furia's awper disconnected, forcing them to play 4v5 for several rounds. Which lead them to go from a 8-6 lead to an 8-11 deficit and eventually losing the map and the match. If Furia won that map they would qualify over Atrix, but for some reason the articule doesn't mention this pretty important situation.

cs is only about skill when it's in the matches it is not purely about skill when out of the matches some regions get more events, some regions get less events it's easier to get into major in some regions, it's harder to get into major in some regions it is has nothing to do with skill eu teams are harder to get into major not because they play badly, but because they play too good. eu is too competitive. i don't doubt the 100th best eu team can beat the 10th best na or asian team, but the latter has a far greater chance of getting into a major at least giving a slot to the women's champion has more cultural impact than giving it to red canids or the huns

What did I just read lmao. All the regions got their spot because they did well in the major. The mongolz got in the legend stage so Asia has a legend spot and LVG got into stage 1 so Asia got 1 more spot. So yes the spots in the major are skill based not some random numbers. Asia had 2 spots before the mongolz did good. If female teams want a spot then they should work hard instead of begging for a spot. Hope this helps. 🙏

bro i know the rules only stage 2 and 3 spots are based on the results of the previous major asia will have 4 stage 1 spots no matter how bad the asian teams play asia grew from 2 to 6 spots, 2 because of Tyloo and Mongolz played well, and 2 because they expanded the major from 24 to 32 teams

Women are free to play in any event as long as they qualify. Unless all women in CS actually are from magical land (Amazons?) where they have no events I don't think comparing regions to gender make sense.

it has nothing to do with qualification. there are a lot of region/country locked events that are not there because of bad internet connection, but because someone wants to support a specific scene, like spanish/nordic/mongolian tournaments. you cannot say mongolia is too far from china or spain is too far away from france. if you hold an event only allowing a kind of team to participate, you are helping that kind of team to survive and grow i want to see women teams become more financially stable and grow, so i hope there are more women only events it is simple as it is

I would say there's equal odds of Big Equipa and NiP winning it. Below those two, the next favorites have to be Imperial and shimmer. Although MIBR came in strong in this season with Olgas addiction, I think they would need to be in a perfect day to reach more than the semi finals, and I would put them in the same level as Flyquest. Atrix and overpeek are more than happy to have made the last ESL impact finals (so far), and anything more than group stage is a major win for them. Very sad that SAW Myst didn't manage to qualify for this last season, now I will cheer for former Iberian team BIG Equipa and NiP impact who has the portuguese GOAT Zana. LFG
