We sat down with George Woo from Intel at the IEM5 Global Challenge Shanghai, to speak with one of the people who make the Intel Extreme Masters happen.

During the third day of the IEM5 Global Challenge Shanghai, we got to speak with George Woo who is Consumer Events Sponsorship Manager at Intel, meaning he's the guy handling the Intel Extreme Masters. We got to question Woo why Intel engaged into electronic sports, if he thinks electronic sports should be consider as a sport on a global scale and much more.

Woo even goes on to saying that Counter-Strike 1.6 still is one of the biggest games in the community and until a new 5on5 game has been found, Counter-Strike 1.6 is the game of choice. Still he noted that they would like to see a new 5vs5 game.

They should help speed up promod development... even if it cost them a little bit ATM in the long run they'd most likely benefit from it ^_^ if you talk with this guy you should suggest this to him :D

Promod is never happening, just forget it, CS:S is already terribly outdated too..

The improvements they listed here sound very promising cspromod.com/community/showthread.php?th.. Do you really think a better 5v5 FPS will come out before promod gets good? They are not making it on source graphics anymore either. They are able to port the code to any new engine that valve comes out with. Currently they've ported it to OB engine which is the newest available...

Well, they keep promising stuff, and then let down the community, I doubt people will keep being exciting when that is the case, plus the graphics of Source is rapidly getting outdated, I mean why switch a 10 year old game with a 5 year old one? Neither will be state of the art..

Did an interview with Carmac during IEM4. I think it would be the most interesting to interview him, the IEM product manager, after the season, rather than during.

yea but they are using the incorporated microphone of the camera. that's why it's so loudy.

Uh no we are not, we are using a very expensive directional microphone, the exhibition is very loud, it was freaking written in the text to expect it to be loud, christ..

Interesting interview

Hats off guys, easily one of the best iviews I've seen about esports or even in general. Of course the background noise is what it is, but static camera, properly blurred background, good lighting and spot-on focus made it look very professional! I really liked George too, PR people tend to keep to repeating the one-liners they've been taught, but he really seems to be interested in esports and is capable of discussing it. Of course he drops the i7 here and there but not to the extent that it becomes irritating.
