CSPromod with three new videos

The CSPromod developing team has released three new videos about the changes they are working on.

The last time the CSPromod was heard from was last month, when a hotfix patch for 1.04 was released. Since then, things have been quite silent, with only news that 1.05, which will feature new models, is scheduled for a 2010 release.

In these videos, you will be able to check how the new models will walk, and also how the reload animation will look like.

no i havnt tried it.. but i dnt wwant any new graphics in CS 1.6.. and i m not against any change... changes are always welcome.. but in CS.. i think wht we need is the gameplay... and not just the stupid graphicss.. coz if u intrdce high graphics.. then every1 needs to upgrade thr hardware.. n even nw.. for CS 1.6 for some tournaments fps drops in smoke.. imagine wht will hapn with higher graphics and smoke..!! and 1 more point is.. if u love something deep from ur heart.. then it is really hard to remove it and go for smething else.. may be after years.. promod will take over 1.6... but not for now.. it will take time.. and the time will be like 4ever.. :)

Then you haven't really tried it. It actually is very close to 1.6, you can throw similar nades and stuff. Ok, the models are still too big but such things will be fixed in 1.05 and then it will be a very good copy of 1.6

If the CSS is not bout graphics, then bout what is it? You need better graphics for promotion. Promotion => popularity => more sponsors at events => money => top players => the game LIVES... CS at GoldSrc can't keep up with graphic. CSS can't be taken seriously at anything but graphics.

1. The most unique thing about CS are the bombs and their unique bouncing. Therefore you need simple map architecture to keep the bombs easy and simple, not too complicated to make them less usefull. First example would be csp_inferno roofs... you can't use that kind of "beautiful" roof for cool bombs like. on de_inferno simple roof :) The mappers need to understand this when making maps... ***MUST KEEP BOMBS IN MIND*** 2. And I'm not sure what this is about (maybe it was just server lag), but on the exibition match fnatic vs reason, f0rest used 36 USP bullets on 1 guy. That just can't happen :P It was a pain watching him reload, I think it was a new feeling for him as well. I'm all up for CS 1.6 on a new engine with updates rolling, so keep up the good work :)

The thing is they dont want to use again their old graphic engine, they(Valve) keep hl2 engine to develop their games like they did for Portal, TF2 or more recently on Alien swarm. I dont think they want to come back on hl1 because there is maybe thousands things to correct on it. Their new engine works fine so they keep it(my point of view).

CSP has already been ported to the Orange Box engine == Source 2007. Which is the latest version besides of Alien Swarm one. Porting to some more advanced Valve's engine is supported by devs. Portal, DoDS and TF2 run at Source 2009, which hasn't been released for public yet. L4D and L4D2 run at it's own versions. Upcoming Portal 2 will run at "Source 2011" version, which will likely to be massively redone /full dynamic lightening, etc./

The dev team for CSP does not plan to stay on the same Source engine during the whole lifespan of CSP. CSP's ultimate goal after getting movement and recoil down pat is updating CSP to each new engine that Valve releases. Such as with the switch from 1.04 to 1.05 going from the old engine that CSS used to be on and switching to the Orange Box engine that the new CSS is on now.

CS 1.6 is very good, but old game. If 1.6 doesn't get new graphic, new players will not start playing this old game. 1.6 is in the same situation like starcraft: brood war 1 year before. It was the best strategy with great pro gamers, but without new players.

Tired of trying csp builds the never fail to disappoint me, they will never get the movement and feeling right on that engine. Valve needs to make a new openGL engine and mimic every little detail from cs and keep simple uncluttered maps for pro play, then maybe they will succeed in putting cs to rest.

Oh! maybe because you need some kind of graphic update to a 10 year old game and using the developer SDK will prevent any kind of legal issue and a good way to keep updating the source since it is your and you can use any SDK update VALVe releases.

When the game makers started was many of them students. These guys are all game developers who havent got job on a company jet, probably because the competiton. Now they have created a whole game on their own that is a pretty big + on their CV.

One thing you actually seem to fail to notice, 1.6 IS DYING no new players, teams dissolving, people quitting, in a couple of years it WILL no matter what happens be dead. This is probably the last chance to revive this old BUT FUCKIN BADASS game, the number 1 first person shooter that deserves to be player for ever as many of you say but to keep alive you need graphic improvement you can't expect sponsors and new players not to feel attracted to other games with those incredible effects and flying stuff but the truth is they lack a lot but, what would you expect? CSPromod Team has done an incredible effort recreating lots of things just stop being such a bitch about it and try 1.05 and you will see I am so sure that when 1.05 gets released we will start watching how tournaments migrate to this game.

I cant understand why valve dont try to make a better version of this game, having tons of those "hardcore gamers" always searching for new games with nice graphics to play like 2 weeks and quit, its such a gold mine. No, Source does not have more players, the steam stats do not count the many MANY thousand no steam players out there, they removed them a while back, CS still peaks at around 100k while CS:S only hits ~60k on a good day, also today for instance 1.6 peaked above CS:S store.steampowered.com/stats/ - and that is not counting all the no steam users, so how is that for a dying game?

The CSP developing team really deserves respect but I think they still have a long road ahead of them. And I not even thinking of getting the feel of the game that use as model, 1.6, and avoid (correct?) the bugs that this model game has but also I refer to things that the game needs comparing to other games that have been developed in the meantime. As for me I have always considered necessary a general update on the weapons arsenal and was pretty surprised when CSP stated at first (hope they changed their minds) they would only release the main weapons that were used during the different competitions. I presumed that they did ignore that the other weapons are mostly ignored/not used because they are a waste of money actually for what they offer (besides being a lammer, that is). Thus if it wants to succeed it should not be similar to CS 1.6 but also offer an update for it (dream update would be: cs 1.6 updated and improved + use of Red Faction engine woOt! xD)

Well, that's pretty much what they're doing/planning on doing by incorporating features such as teammates' money/HPs on scoreboard, new sexy HUD/GUI, the options tab with all the customization. There's also a lot of stuff they plan to add later on like a Ready/Not-Ready automatic lo3 system, an improved HLTV, maybe even a built-in IRC client etc... but first they have to get the gameplay right and make it as close to 1.6 as possible.

I know what they plan to add for now but, if you read again what I posted, it is not related to what I was talking about. These things are just add-ons instead of actually providing the game with the lifting of the game itself it needs, f.e. the one I refered to, the weapons arsenal.

Why would they do that? glock/usp/deagle mp5/famas/galil ak/m4 awp Do u rly think, that we need more weapons? Like choosing which one is cool from a 100+ unit list?

Yes, I do think the game needs more weapons to choose from or change some of the already present ones. See some nowadays shooting games and you will see what I refer to.

uhh skipped 1/2 of the comments but idk what u kids r on...cs promod is amazing...once they fix the models, a few other things...even if it doesnt replace 1.6 i dont see anyone playing source after its release....also not very nice to keep dissing ppls work that they have been diligently working on for two years or so....think b4 u post

They had their chance... The game was nearly perfect! They only had to fix the models and the recoil was a bit off and still they f*cked up again by using half a year to fix one little thing.. gg CSP

If you were not so ignorant you would spot that they have: a) switched to the Orange Box engine b) tweaked, animated and added new models c) fixed like 150+ bugs d) tweaked the GUI, the scoreboard, team selection menu, buymenus, ... e) added many other stuff The engine switch made impossible to release it earlier. Now they add more animations detail. You can follow the development at their site anyway.

Are you serious mate? I tried to look at the project through their eyes for years, they were under staffed, long hours and they put their hearts into it. So one day the game finally comes out, we test it and actually like it. Only problems are the models are a tad too big which really shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. They read the feedbacks and see that this was a big issue and they needed to fix it. Great then they set off and promise that it would be ready in around june/july at most. Now we are here in september and you are calling me ignorant? If they had brains they would have fixed the models straight away and released the game and THEN added all those little details you just subscribed. Waiting this long is enough to kill peoples interest. I can assure you I am not ignorant I am just stating the facts.

it kind of always bothered me that 1.6 colt reload animation had the player pulling back the forward assist instead of the charging handle hahahah. i wonder if promod fixes that?
