Brazil without ESWC, FIRE, KODE5

Anderson "Aneurex" dos Santos has revealed that Brazil will miss out on qualifiers for ESWC, KODE5 and FIRE this year.

Dos Santos, who has organized gaming events in Brazil for several years, said on Wednesday that due to the lack of sponsors, the nation will be without qualifiers for the three events.

Earlier, dos Santos claimed there would be no national stop for the 2011 edition of ESWC, which meant FIRE could very well be the only international competition available for Brazilian teams.

However, this year's FIRE event, which was supposed to take place in Ecuador, has been canceled as no support for qualifiers has been found and teams will not be able to make the trip.

In addition to sowing doubt in a ESWC stop in Brazil, dos Santos made the same remark about KODE5. The 2010 event in Peru was a tragedy, with $40,000 of the prize money still being unpaid.

Little to nothing is known about a World Cyber Games qualifier for Brazil as of yet, with the local website not displaying any updated information and still showing the 2010 theme.

GameGune and DreamHack qualifiers could still be a possibility. Edit: Well, perhaps not qualifiers for the former this year, but yeah.

idk mate, if sponsors didn't show up for ESWC, i'm not sure anyone would buy the license to host a 1.6 qualy... but it's just a guess on me, ofc.

ofc there are some possibilities yet, I'm just talking bout qualies, invites are always a possibility, if they can cost their expenses (which FG can't)

so FG can't even go to GameGune, while paiN can ? I thought FG was better organisation than paiN(CnB), because they were #1 Brazil team for 2years~

pAin is able to send their CS team to GG, which CNB couldn't, that's mainly why they switch from 1 orga to another FG had already loads of troubles with supporting their teams, and I'm not totally sure they're an orga that can substantially support their squad just without getting a huge profit of it hltv.org/news/2815-firegamers-to-miss-ga..

Compared to paiN, FG is not much of an organization, it's just a gamer shop, just like GamerHouse. But paiN is bigger, has more sponsors, more lineups, and most importantly has "FERRER" the best manager in Brasil, he took many sponsors to paiN since he joined the organization. Although they're still a shadow of 2005 mibr as an organization, they're still the biggest in Brasil.

It's not about what you mean but what you write. Small little tiny difference. I'm sure I'm a troll because of that, I mean, he's just overreacting, even if he meant "brazil cs scene died" which is hard to determine, as he didn't write so, he's still overreacting, brazilian teams kept on with their "cs lives" after cogu retired. Keep on understanding the meaning of things, I'll just keep on reading them.

brasil never really a strong cs scene bcs here we cant get prizes in money, only prize for tourneys here are hardwares. since mibr started to step of "pro-gaming" the rest of brasilian scene simple dissapear. they are tryng to host a new tourney this year... but the games of choice are ridicoulus.... I.E this tourney has a bracket for FM11 but not sc2. sad but true dont expect to hear any news from brazlian teans for a while/ever.

Brazil is shit man, no good internet connections and expensive ones, pro-gamers equipment costs like half of our minimum wage. Nobody cares anyway, the only thing that have some space here is football.

Keep killing it untill there's nothing left. Really sad for Brazil, if people keep thinking that CS is dying, and its not worth supporting the game anymore it WILL die. You guys need the Brazilean Arbalet maybe? :)

you see, on good server providers, our latency stays 25 - 70, and that's pretty good tough, but on the other hand, good servers cost from 50 to 70 Reais, wich would be something around 30 Dollars. Without sponsorship, that's a hard cost to sustain.

everything is focusing towards football worldcup 2014, in this time all potential new player will be sucked in by football, and this is maybe death of cs in br :( its just pc game, but so good memories from the past playing it. I expect same to happen to europe in 2 years.
