VG, BigGods to miss ESEA GC

Due to visa issues VG.CyberZen and BigGods have been replaced by Rogue and Muffin Lightning at the ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge.

VG.CyberZen and BigGods earned their place at the ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge by winning their respective Open divisions in late November.

However, both teams have run into visa issues and thus won't be able to attend the $50,000 event taking place in Burbank, California.

Rogue to attend Season 23's Global Challenge

To replace the two teams, the organizers invited Rogue, who placed third in the European Premier division, and Muffin Lightning, who finished 5th-8th in North America.

The following eight teams will take part in ESEA Season 23 Global Challenge from January 5th-8th:

Europe LDLC Poland Kinguin  Canada TSM United States Rush
Australia Tainted Minds  South Africa Bravado  United States Muffin Lightning  Denmark Rogue

hltv.org/?pageid=357&eventid=2578 I aren't think that. Perhaps they didn't want to attend cuz it's summer time in Brazil and they might have "quality time" plans, you know.

I feel so bad about Brazilian CS. Whenever a team gets the chance to play an international event, they're amateur enough to not have visas. We will never get to a high level. ex-g3x went to China and got smoked. Selfless (tier 3 NA team) came to Brazil and raped all of our best teams. Player should take it seriously and go after challenges. Until it happens, we'll be represented by SK and Immortals. LG is starting to show up but after 6 months of pracc they managed to lose a match against LILMAN's team xD (not taking anything away from LILMAN, PolloTBE etc, but LG should've beat 'em) We're so lucky to have SK and IMT. The rest may never get to a decent level.

tbf it might not be their fault, maybe the people checking visas were just being massive douchebags, although I agree it's sad this happens to good "upcoming" teams :/

I agree with you. My point is they should be prepared for this. If they want to improve, they should be considering playing outside South America. It's not the first time. Teams should think big. Take those qualifier seriously. Either that or our CS scene will remain miles behind other regions.

Yup 100%, I have no idea how it can happen when you have like 3 months to prepare for a LAN which you know will be in another country :/

I think you're being too fatalist here. You should take in count that the players improve their "gaming level" while they've the chance to have in front higher teams that outplay them. That shows up where they're missing and lossing so they could fix the problems. That's what particulary happens on Arg/Br scene. We face each other once and once til end of the era but couldn't improve cause we're stucked playing with the same guys everyday. National teams should show how good they're and how good they could be to have the chance to leave their countries and improve on other lands (USA) like happened with KaBuM, Inmortals and LG. Well, an argentinian/chilean team now is goin to have the same chance in USA too (Miami Flamingos). Let's see what they have, I hope the bests for them. Tl;dr there is such a high hidden level on BR imo.

I agree with you. The teams should go play overseas in order to get in touch with a higher level CS. By staying in Brazil they won't prove anything to anyone (that's why I said they should take every single chance and go after those international challenges), not to mention they will get stuck in our low-level league (in comparison to the professional ones I mean) To sum it up, our players won't improve in SA. It could be possible but looks like jobs, college etc keep our players from dedicating their full time into CS. International events should be a priority then.

50000$ event in california ? Are you serious ? It's so expensive to get and live there that i'm sure they (event organizers) would spend more on players accomodation, food etc. than what is in prizepool. What a shame ...
