Groups released for WESG Finals

The World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) Finals presented by Alipay has revealed the groups for the tournament featuring 24 teams from around the globe.

The WESG Finals will be held at the Olympic Center in Changzhou, China from January 12-15 with $1.5 million on the line. The format and prize distribution for the event can be found in our previous article here.

We have also learnt that the Swedish team, Epsilon has replaced the former dignitas squad for the event. Due to the nationality rule, not all of the teams present will feature their full lineup unlike Virtus.pro, GODSENT and EnVyUs who will.

Maybe ladyluck is on their side for this tourney? Since it's using a playoff format, I don't think it'll be an easy road for top teams to reach the finals. And we have seen for most CSGO tournaments in 2016, many top teams failed to reach the finals because CSGO enabled players to win anti-eco rounds. So you can expect probably only one team from group A will reach the finals. Even WESG qualifiers was intense if you look back at the demos. And i can foresee there'll be many roster changes in 2017 for many top teams, if top 3 teams from group A couldn't make it to the semis.

TBH the only decent events organised in china i've watched was organised by ESL and it was starcraft 2 events. Valve organised their major there where gaben called my idol 2GD some bad words i dont exacly remember, but he called him a moron or sth like that. This dota2 chineese event was failure, it was done by chineese company "perfectworld" (fitting name lol) , and they got kicked after 1 day of sucking ass. After that the event was still bad so i dont expect anything good from chineese events by terms of stream quality. Ladder draw is a joke but everybody else said that already.

TBH it's not "my team", i don't even like VP that much because of how they tried to scam betting sites some time ago with betting for the match that already ended and got caught for it. So donn't act like an asshole and don't imply i'm a VP fan. TBH i just accept them, don't like them over that acceptance. But still, china proved to do tricks so their teams can do better.

Ill say it for the last time, this was a random draw, supervised. Only 4 regional qualifer winners are seeded (russia, k23, etc). Rest were totally random draw into the 4 groups. Hltv is full of idiots that's esports biggest problem.

may be soem of you didnt read the schedule of match. It is the problem of wesg didnt provide enough info in english version. According to schedule. each group leader will direct advance to quaterfinal. Then, second place and third place of each group will advance to a plaoff that decide the last four spot of quaterfinal. A2vsB3 A3vsB2 C2vsD3 C3vsD2 i hope others can read my comment and evaluate again the wesg draw whether is bring more benefit to chineese. Tyloo and vg cant get easily by opponents in group a such as envyus, epsilon,kinguin and etc. may be tyloo will have a better chance, but vg definitely not.
