EnVyUs confirm CS:GO return

EnVyUs have confirmed their newest foray into CS:GO with the signing of a team featuring the core of the ex-Splyce/boxr squad.

The North American organisation had been away from the CS:GO scene since June, when they parted ways with both rosters following a series of disappointing results.

As part of the announcement, EnVyUs revealed a plan to shift their attention from France to North America and to build "a competitive Counter-Strike presence" for the organisation in the region.

jdm64 returns to action on EnVyUs

The team will be competing in the next edition of the Pro League as it features Kory "⁠SEMPHIS⁠" Friesen, Stephen "⁠reltuC⁠" Cutler and Taylor "⁠Drone⁠" Johnson, who were all part of the ex-Splyce roster that qualified for the prestigious ESL competition after beating Swole Patrol in the relegation tournament.

The trio will be joined by ex-Liquid AWPer Josh "⁠jdm64⁠" Marzano, a former teammate of reltuC on CLG, and by Noah "⁠Nifty⁠" Francis, who has left Renegades after an 18-month spell with the Australian side.

“We’re excited to bring a talented roster of Counter-Strike players together to write the next chapter in Envy CS:GO history,” EnVyUs owner and CEO Mike Rufail said in a statement.

“Our priority was to sign a roster that would compete at the highest level and give our loyal fans a team to cheer on.”

Yeah, I think* that is the case as well. I don't think a team with both Cutler and Semphis will be capable of competing internationally in 2018-2019. Drone hasn't really developed into the star rifler that they need. Opportune time to take a chance on an up-and-coming talent.

Drone still has incredible aim, but we're still talking about a core of players (including Cutler joining late) that have been complete garbage the entire time they have been together. I still think Semphis is under-valued, but I don't agree with some of the teams he has built post-C9.

drone demonstrated that he had a lot of talent in premier one or two years ago. he's a good aimer with a lot of confidence and good gamesense. he hasn't shown much in the this year though. I think this is his last and best opportunity to demonstrate to higher tier orgs that he's capable of developing of a star rifler.
