DreamHack to use Vertigo at Rio event

DreamHack will include Vertigo in the map pool for the upcoming Open event in Rio de Janeiro, the event's organisers have announced.

The Swedish company becomes the first tournament organiser to publicly embrace the map, which made the Active Duty pool on Thursday evening in Valve's latest CS:GO update, replacing Cache.

The addition of Vertigo has been met with disapproval from the community, with many top players voicing their belief that the map is still far from being ready to be played competitively.

DreamHack Open Rio will feature Vertigo

Before DreamHack Open Rio starts, however, there will be plenty of time for Valve to fine-tune the map. The Brazilian event will kick off on April 19 and will feature eight teams, who will square off for the lion's share of a $100,000 prize pool.

Too long Imo, a month should be sufficient with the amount these pro teams prac nowadays, but yeah its too soon. Not that I'd be against watching a match where both teams don't know what the hell they are doing LUL.

imo It was a nice move from DreamHack. They knew this tournament wouldn't grab a lot of viewers, then they decided to use Vertigo to bring some hype. Tier 3/4 event, but interesting to see how Vertigo will be played.

The thing is with the other re-iterations of maps teams might have put it on their permaban until they learned it better with the changes (nuke/cbble etc). But this map is completely different, it hasn't been played competitively before so teams don't even have anything basic of strats. It's probably going to be a permaban pick for a while until someone tries to pioneer it. Just my guess.

Vertigo is already add in a competition ?! I think this map is not a bad map. But pro teams have not enough time to work Vertigo. We will see very simple strats, and some good stuffs. But we will not see the real competitive potential of this map.

I just play MM and already found some sick nade/mollys and executes on both sites, expecting good matches here... I guess.
