shox set to join Vitality - Report

Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon is on the brink of completing a transfer to Vitality from G2, according to a report from 1pv.fr.

The two organisations have reportedly agreed terms for a transfer after initially being far apart when it came to shox's valuation, with the move expected to be officially confirmed in the coming days.

The 27-year-old, who made every top 20 player of the year list between 2013 and 2016, will replace Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt in Vitality's starting line-up, reuniting with his former G2 teammates Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy and Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire.

shox is all set to join Vitality

Vitality also had free agent Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey on their shortlist as a back-up option in case of a breakdown in negotiations with G2 before an agreement - believed to be worth between $350,000 and $450,000 - was finally struck.

shox is expected to make his first appearance for Vitality at DreamHack Masters Malmö, scheduled for October 1-6. Sixteen teams will be attending the Swedish event, including G2, who have not yet made an announcement regarding their team despite reports crediting them with an interest in CR4ZY duo Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković and Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač.

RPK is a support by literally every metric. His positioning, his playstyle, his willingness to sacrifice. Simply look at what he does most maps. Either holds the most boring positions or is used as bait and 9/10 times that's what your support is doing. NBK didnt support on this roster, he entried. I see him as a second entry cum support and a post plant lurk. Tbf he can be really good on CT side when holding sites alone. So it is win-win for Vitality on T and CT both sides. Also he has the ability to win rounds single handedly. I see them moving rpk to more traditional support and shox for flashes/second entry and then build around zywoo. Also alex can help too.

They just bought shox from G2 Rpk is still better than kio, better roleplayer, better with nades, more experience, makes less mistakes. Just has slightly worse aim. NBK is still a better option than Kio over rpk despite the benching. Theres literally nothing that Kio brings that NBK doesnt. Kio for rpk is actually so ignorant. Rpk has the most sacrificial role on the team which Kio would never prosper in and it would take him a decent amount of time to learn the system. By no metric is it worth it

1. No they didnt, nothing is confirmed. 2. No, Kio is waaaay better than RpK, in every aspect, fragging & role wise. 3. NBK is not a better option than Kioshima. Kioshima is a more useful player for Vitality/G2, especially Vitality that already got ALEX as IGL.

Its EXTREMELY likely that he joins and it doesnt change the fact that players can switch teams. Jackz being in G2 and being bought out would still be way more worth it than adding Kio because he still has way more room to grow and is mechanically better. Nope kio is worse with nades, worse overall support, doesnt know how to bait or delay like rpk. Doesnt hold sites as well and like I said is less sacrificial and would have to adapt to rpks role which rpk is obviously already used to. NBK wasnt an IGL until Vitality, hes quite capable of playing as a support/entry/hybrid. Kioshima cant use scopes as well, he has worse game sense, worse comms, and is overall less versatile. Only advantage he might have is aim and its negligible.

I'd say kios is slightly better but I've also said in other posts that most of the time the quality of their aim is indistinguishable, rpk is great in supportive spots and structured positions, hes not that great of a player with space but on a team with shox and zywoo he should never be in those positions. Seems like you're just looking for something you can be right about though so have at it

You don't know anything about the game... apEX is not braindead but that doesn't mean his playstyle and actions are always good...this player can make you lose rounds on his own just like against Avangar... He was playing the B player on inferno and was so shit that Zywoo and NBK had to play his role (he had to play rotation haha) and then on Mirage he doesn't know how to play anchor on A it's amazing how the A site was so open that it impacted the B site as well. Bring kio instead of RpK and you have a very solid team. I like RpK for who he is and what he does. But he is pretty much one dimensional, do you remember RpK throwing a perfect nade for his mate ? No. He almost never throw anything.

That's because hes used to create space with positioning and anchoring/entrying. Hes pretty much never in a position to throw nades but when he is he has excellent nade work. Also I'm not sure why you're acting like Kio is some sort of all star utility player. Hes an aimer at best and that's literally the only advantage he has over rpk. Rpk is better for the system and is a better support.

Because with the opportunity he had, he had no space to be a star rifler and was a support. He perfected his nades & stuff. I think skillwise they might be at the same level.

Kio was never a support or very rarely, he 2nd entried most of his career. Whenever he was on a team with NBK he was not supporting and the interviews during those periods confirm that. Just like on this team he would also be an entry type player. Also just have no idea where the notion that Kio perfected his utility came from, utility was never a huge part of his playstyle and it remains that way.

RpK has the highest percentage of flashed opponents while having the least number throwed. He do send a lot of nades, but there's not that much more. Can you tell me what you see in him to view him as a "must have" in this team instead of RpK? But all in all, be it Shox or Kio, both of them called Zywoo a cheater in his aAa's time, so there's potentially a good drama to be seen in a couple of months...

Not taking a dig at kio or anything, he is imo a gd player still and might've improved g2 if he replaced lucky but unfortunately shox is leaving which is kind of sad but I'm happy for him. But you gotta admit it isnt much of an upgrade if you kick nbk for kio, you gotta go for someone better if you want to really improve.

Hell get kicked immediately if he acts that way. He doesn't want to IGL anyway. And either way his "past glory" is still quite relevant as its blatantly clear when watching him play that hes still one of the most mechanically talented and intuitive players in the world. Its just a matter of focusing on that and being in a system that allows him to showcase it. Something that Alex and XTQZZZ are very good at doing.

ive been a shox fan since source, and i can tell you that since 2018 shox degraded in skill. He doesnt put in as much hours. Dude has a wife and a child. He used to win tournaments with 2hrs past 2 weeks in source, (and is imo the most talented cs player ever) you cant do that now. But its maybe his last chance now at t1, he is already 27, and the last chance for shoxiejesus to comeback. Thats the thing i hope ALEX makes him realize and makes him grind more than he ever did before

I would have preferred Kioshima to Shox But Jackz more than Kioshima if it was transferable. I don't like Shox. In Marseille they say: "He always seems to have the balls upside down". The good mood seems to me very important in a collective sport. So, even though we may think that Shox is "better" than Jackz, which remains to prove ....
