Envy defeat eUnited to finalize DreamHack Masters Malmö team list

Envy have secured themselves a spot at DreamHack Masters Malmö by taking down eUnited 3-1.

Envy were the first to grab a spot in the grand final thanks to a nearly flawless run in the upper bracket, dropping only a single map to Swole Patrol. Meanwhile, after losing the upper bracket final to Envy, eUnited made quick work of Sharks in the consolidation final to yet again face their North American foes for a spot at DreamHack Masters Malmö.

The best-of-five started on Nuke, and with Envy having a 1-0 advantage, the pressure was all on eUnited to even up the score. However, Noah "⁠Nifty⁠" Francis' side made it known very early on that they had much different plans for their North American rival as they came back from a 2-5 start, giving up just five more rounds to eUnited before winning Nuke 16-10.

Up next was Inferno, which quickly turned into an all-out brawl between the two sides as neither team found themselves able to secure any sort of lead for more than a round or two. It was clear that Anthony "⁠vanity⁠" Malaspina and company had no intention of going out 0-3 to Envy as the battle continued into the second half, with eUnited just barely pulling ahead and winning the map 16-14.

The final map of the series was Mirage, which opened with the first half following a very similar path to that of Inferno as both sides traded rounds, this time with Envy just barely pulling ahead with a three-round lead to close out the half. From there, eUnited continued to fall behind as Nifty and Sam "⁠s0m⁠" Oh ripped through their defense to close out the map and series 16-9.
